Ok, so by reading the entire topic, I only saw 2 suggestions for passive monitors: JBL Control 25 & KRK ST-8'.

I need to run the speakers through my home theater amplifier, because I only have a DJM-300, which don't have XLR connectors. Any other suggestions for passive speakers ? Or which one of the 2 would you recommend the most for DJing purposes ?

Everyone here should at a min take a listen.

There are alot of decent speakers out now. These have the sound that we have been searching for since the beginning.

I hope your not pulling my leg here cause I am really thinking of getting this speaker now instead of the new HDTV I wanted lol.

Smiley DJ QSC K8 vs. HDTV

I happen to have a HDTV... LG SCARLET.. I love it it's so cool.

But if I had the choice I would no question trade it for the QSC K series speakers. The sound is so good! Just feels so nice and is such a joy to hear my fav songs being played through them.

I find myself downstairs spinning records while my friend is upstairs watching TV.

But you don't have to take my word for it. Just go to the store and have a listen to these 1000W powered monsters. They don't just offer power they offer quality.

Hello! QSC K Series had RCA inputs

Yep, which means I can use them with the tape out or booth out from my mixer without having to get an RCA to XLR connector.

At home I have a nicer mixer with XLR outputs but my friend has a DJM-400 with RCA outs. I showed up with these and bypassed his receiver. Which was great cause the last party he had the receiver kept clipping and even turned off at one point because it was overheating.

He also was floored about the bass and quality of these.

I wish these were out a few years ago when I forked out so much for a home setup that didn't sound even half as good as these.

The funny thing is that when I went to the store and discovered these I had in mind to buy studio monitors. I used to own KRK back a few years. But then I heard these and thought to myself. I really want something I can crank all night and not be afraid to damage. Also, I wanted something that had bass and I could take with me to playout at house parties and stuff. I really couldn't do that with studio monitors. I would be too afraid they would get damaged. Not these K series. They are built like tanks. Even more so than the Mackies because even in the back the volume knobs are recessed and won't break if something slams up against.

Should I get the K8 speaker or K12 for a bit more....? The K12 would be more powerful yes?

Drunk I went with 8

From what I understood the k12 had the same power... Same amp.

K8 went to 127db.
K12 went to 131db.

127db is plenty loud for me and the k8 had more than enough bass.

Also, I wanted something small that was very portable.

So I went with the smaller k8.

So really it depends on what you want.

I personally think it's pretty hip to have monster sound coming out of A small speaker.

I'm looking for some descent speakers just to use at home.
Nothing fancy, nor crappy.
Any suggestions?
