so we have, deathmatch, team deathmatch and capture the flag. ooh! tactical

Eh? A game is more than it's gamemodes.

Hairy muff. I have an ego, I can live with that.

yes, rainbow six and quake are certainly different. but no, halo and the other unrealistic shooters really are not, for reasons i have posted again ^^. having played my fair share of multiplayer halo i contend that it plays exactly the same as the others of its ilk, just much worse, slow, less skillful and boring. rainbow six et al is also very slow, but hardly boring because of its more lethal dynamic. again, im not calling them the same simply because theyre both FPSs- that would be silly

Problem is you havnt made any detailed explanation to back up the claim Halo and Quake are somehow from the same ilk.

im not sure how many more times i have to paste this?

halo is an unrealistic shooter played in a deathmatch fashion, circle strafing included. so a comparison to any other unrealistic shooter where you circle strafe aliens is a completely valid point.

halo certainly isnt any more "tactical". its just slower- the main reason being to be more readily playable on a controller. unless an unrealistic shooter does something particularly special (say, bioshock or deus ex) then theyre (more or less) in the same basket.

you, on the other hand, havent provided a single reason to justify calling them incomparable.

I've said a game being slower isnt the only different dynamic. The weapons system is completeley different, the damagae/health system is completely different and the only similarity is multiplayer map design and even than, only the smaller maps. Not even mentioning vehichles and grenades.
