*except for full on drum and bass, big room house, etc |
I'd agree.

Key is not to stick with one genre. |
I never did restrain myself with sub-genres. I listened to tech house, prog, acid, detroit tech, minimal tech, deep house, breaks, 89-94 trance... In a way, this is all essentially the same genre (EDM), with subtle variations. The problem is, the more music I discovered, the higher my standards became, and then I reached a point where I was enjoying barely 1% of the tracks I listened to on beatport or heard in sets, such that searching for new tracks just became a hassle.
Most of what I liked was made in the early 90s, and this sort of music just isn't made the same anymore. So as a result I ended up listening to the same 20-30 tracks all the time and I got bored quickly.

Tough luck mate. It's not good to have low criterions, but it's maybe even less good to have 'em too high.

You really are a cretin aren't you. There have always been a big number of people in the chillout section here who don't listen to trance, some who never have either. People don't hate on it because its "cool" to do so, they hate what kids like you are listening to because it's shit. There is still some good trance but many people won't listen now because of the hands in the air, pop culture stigma that some of your idols have created.
