I'm working on converting my girlfriend, or at least building her appreciation. I'm going to load 15 tracks on her iPod every couple weeks, being very careful with what I give her first - very vocally remixes - and I'm going to hold off on giving her "I Found You" until the second or third, just because of its long vocal-free stints

HAHAH ^5 I love your plan to convert your gf! That's awesome man!

Yeah, very, very sneaky though. 15 sick tracks with catchy vocals, and before too long, you see them bobbing their head to the beat. Then they're hooked, and eventually, all they need is the beat. Man, that should be a crime, but hey, fkin sue me

And Vrk, after you convert a few people, it becomes a work of art, y'know? But man, it's hard not to play Bilingual for them on the first attempt!

lol. it worked on me years ago.

i remember laughing my butt off at some tracks with no vocals and saying "why do people listen to this crap?"

but eventually it grew on me!

I know I'm dating myself.. but the two tracks that made me convert many years ago....

LNR - Work it to the bone
Josh Wink - Higher state of conciousness

I don't think they'd do much in the line of conversion now though.

Completely true...vocals did me in back in the day..the key is catchy.

Awww getting ppl to open their minds/eyes is one of the best feelings i think....
Nothing like seeing someone's reaction when they finally FEEL what we feel

Ppl who don't really like trance (altho its really proggy) might not agree, here's another that fits what we been trying to get at:
Karen Overton - Your Loving Arms
----> nice, deep bassline, very rhythmic, and its got that catchy vocal...especially for non-listeners

It might be cool to compile the list of recommended tracks from this thread, have everyone vote on their personal favs, and then get one of the talented DJs from this board to put together a set of the top 20 (providing they've got or can get the songs).

Just an idea. I know I'd really appreciate a well mixed set like this...

+1.

I would never tell a friend 'here is the one song to which you must listen'; rather, I'd compile a CD featuring a bunch of my most memorable tunes. In addition to those listed above, other tracks would likely include the following:

As The Rush Comes
Should Have Known
Sun Goes Down
Riff
Beautiful Things
Needs To Feel (Wippenberg Remix)
Not Exactly
Muranyi
Balaton
Armed
Love Machine
Moonlight Party
Roadkill
System
Do You Feel Me

Fixed (20 is too limited (especially considering how many genres exist within EDM)).
