"Right to bear arms".

I bet some countries around the globe are like wtf is going on with America's children today.

Outlaw guns only to the cops and government officals(fbi,cia,etc..)
and there will be less deaths. Cops are even using tazers now to promote less gun use.

HAVING A GUN IN MY EYES NO MATTER WHAT PERMIT YOU HAVE OR EXP THERE MIGHT BE .0001% SOME WRONG WILL HAPPEN AND WHEN IT DOES THEN WHAT.

well it's just getting to crazy. I don't know if anyone heard but here in Baton Rouge Louisiana some girl went into class and killed two student's and then herself. Sorry but I have my concealed weapons id and they tell me I can't bring it to school. Why the fuck not after all this kind of shit. I have no criminal record and should be allowed to protect myself and fellow classmates from fools like this. Bet if half the school was packing they would think twice before going in and shooting.

I think bullying has a lot to do with this rage.
Unfortunately in schools and elsewhere in the US, people are encouraged to be defenseless puppets. What this does is empower those who wish to harm others. For example, in high school if you defend yourself from some thugs or try to end some harrassment, you will likely be escorted in cuffs and then suspended or even expelled. People are afraid to defend themselves. I think this encourages a build up of rage and then some people end up just snapping.

Thoughts before I head to bed.

I am so very proud to be an NIU Alum and if you talk to any of the people I have met in the last years since graduation to see just how open I am to admit that.

My main concern tonight is "when is enough enough?" I know that the public must be informed about current events, but I do not feel they need to be informed of them in the way that they currently are. It seems mass communication (even though they say they aren't) find a way to glorify the person who is so completely out of their normal mental state to commit these major acts of violence and terror. I think this just says a lot about our society today, which isn't a good thing. People are too unforgiving, too uneducated, too easily aggravated and too unwilling to let minor events in their lives go, as a whole these days. Society needs to change its outlook on life and on itself. In my opinion, that will be the only way these events will cease. This epidemic of mass murder on school campuses needs to stop. What ever happened to the Golden Rule? It's about time for that to make a comeback.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those directly involved and also to those who knew someone directly involved. It's been a frightening feeling listening to the events of today and being able to visualize how it all happened, from having multiple classes in Cole. I couldn't begin to imagine what is going on in the minds of the 100+ students that saw the events unfold.

Peace, love and Huskie Pride

Your arguing two things that are unrelated. Please restate your argument about bullying. I do, however, agree with your arguments regarding being defensless puppets. It is, in my experience, true. I was a victim of this, but I did stand up for myself. I am unsure of how to combat this, but I do see it as an issue.

Precisely.

Acknowledge the dead in the way the families feel appropriate (obituary in the paper or whatnot) but do not report on the event itself.

I get so tired of people playing the "it's the bully's are at fault" card it makes me sick.

Educators who turn a blind eye are at fault, parents who raise bully's are at fault, video games are at fault, society is at fault - everyone is at fault except for the kids pulling the fucking trigger, and I think it's a load of shit.

I'm not arguing that circumstance doesn't have anything to do with it - all those factors can certainly play a role, but for fucks sake we need to stop making these kids into martyrs and victims.

It's the mindset that it's always "someone else's fault" in concert with "politically correct" culture that seems to be to blame for this nonsense. Knock it the fuck off.

I wish this was up before I started to write my last response. I wholeheartedly feel, that people in the US, take life too seriously. They seem to just get pissed off at the smallest things. People don't know how to just let things go anymore. I have been saying for a while, the oment you start taking your job too seriously, that is the moment you need to look for another job. I think this can be realted to life. The moment you start taking life too seriously, is the moment you need to re-evaluate how seriously you take life.

I have a theory as to why the opinion of Americans abroad is so shit, and it has nothing to do with excess, the war in Iraq, or policy - it's the fact that no one in this entire country seems to own up to a fucking thing anymore; there is absolutely no sense of personal responsibility in this country.

At the very least that's true in the image we show the world (regardless of whether it's true of all of us) - we have Roger Clemens in front of Congress, Britney Spears on the front of every news paper, and sue anyone we can in an attempt to hide our own idiocy (yes, I'm talking to you assholes who decided to sue after you spilled coffee on yourself - you're a clutz, fuck off).

/rant

Honestly, I spend so much time defending America and Americans on here, but a lot of what people say is true - and that absolutely fucking kills me.
