Practice is always good! If I were to have to size you up, I'd say a level 3/4 computer would be the ideal match-up, at this moment. Learn all the characters' movesets and get some combos down in Practice Mode. You'll be really good in no time.
Sorry I had to get off. Midterm tomorrow and I only started studying today. Haha. Will have some more matches later, yeah?

On the contrary! You did a few things that caught me off guard (that I'll have to analyze to see if I can pop into my gameplay). The people that've been playing forever just have a very rigid gameplay style... lol

so what controller does everyone favor to use? I was using the wiimote, but I switched to the classic controller. Also tried the Gamecube controller, but I didn't like it with this game. Its perfect for Guilty Gear.

I used the classic and Gamecube controllers initially, but was really pretty unhappy with them.
I now have smash moves mapped to the c-pad on the Wii Mote and waggle smash for either side, I've also just found it easier to get the "direction-button" timing down with the nunchuk as opposed to a gamepad - but of course different strokes for different folks.
I will say, though, that I absolutely love being able to keep my hands apart while I play games (if that makes any sense to anyone).
And I'll be on tonight at some point, the wireless just isn't working for me so I'm going to go to Radio Shack and get an Ethernet USB converter thingy and call it a day.
I'll add you lot when I get the chance!
Btw: Anyone know anywhere that sells Gamecube controllers still?
Bestbuy here doesn't!!!! I mean the real ones that is, not the knock off kinds that suck.

I picked up four of them about a year or so ago at Gamestop - doubt that helps, but it's worth a shot.

Walmart has them, as should most gaming stores. Their not hard to find since the Wii has many uses for them.
