Personally, I like the flaming- that's why I read MD first rather than say...New Releases forum. Sure, you can avoid flamebait and stick to threads started by someone posting a serious music query. Rarely, does someone ridicule an OP who writes something akin to, "I'm new here and I have enjoyed checking out the forums and dling sets from TA DJs and producers. I found some great music. Can you recommend more stuff from Whirloop?"
But why miss the fun? I like to look for threads started by someone saying (paraphrase) "I don't have good taste in music, nor do I like searching for music I like. Honestly, I don't know why I'm on a music forum because I don't particularly like music. But I want to look cool. Could you please tell me what to like."
Some classic flamethreads have caused me to laugh hysterically. My fave was from maybe a year ago with the title "Can you recommend trance while swimming in the pool?"
Flaming is a much funnier way of socializing n00bs than referring them to a FAQ or sticky.
