Advice on someone telling you to use the search button:

"No, I will not use the search button."

If someone says trance isn't underground:

"Trance is super underground, just look at these boards. It's so fashionable to bash on trance these days, now everyone listens to mnml, ergo, you should listen to trance to be more underground cause people worship mnml."

Well the problem is being original and sounding good at the same time.

Look at the visual arts. I can get a urinal and flip it over and call it original and art. I think that's a bunch of crap. So do many people. People in their ivory towers and so-called intellectuals will call it genius.

I`d actually take a Supersaw over those plucky Anjunabeat tracks with chopped up vocals and rolling basslines any day.

this is the root of the problem. we need a paradigm shift in regard to what 'sounds good'.

this is what i meant with getting out of one's comfort zone.

there are a lot of classicists that think something like aphex twin sounds horrendous, but then there are a lot people that think aphex twin sounds awesome...

Most people will like Generic Trance, just as most people like Pop music.

+1

Almost all of them are extremely boring (well, i only like a few Daniel Kandi productions). IMO, Anjunadeep as well. Completely uninspired and generic.

Then you probably are the one who asked at youtube if people from Holland and Germany are called the Dutch...

Before the Supersaw (eg Cygnus X - Superstring (Rank 1 Remix)) there were other synth sounds which were extremly popular. EG DJ Quicksilver and Three'n'One.

Three'n'One - Reflect

Three'n'One - Sin City

DJ Quicksilver - Bellisima

Red 5 vs. MC Miker G - Da beat goes

I bet most synthesizer lovers all like these sounds.

Maybe because quite a few producers don't care about "getting famous," or even if they do, they would rather not do it via the route of copying what's already out there?

The fact that something isn't easy doesn't mean it automatically deserves respect. Digging a hundred deep holes with a teaspoon and then filling them back in would be very difficult.

But it would also be pointless.

its actually the safe zone of labels... if you could just "release" tracks to the wide open air and earn something from it it would be easier to do (you wouldnt sell your hard worked music for free right?)... but you need your back covered with a label to protect from stealing and stuff like that... and the labels need you... to make money... so making a groundbraking new sound and build is one thing... but there is a long road from there to getting your stuff released...

What if a producer just doesn't care that his music gets stolen or he doesn't make any money on it? Have you ever thought about that at all?
