Ibiza is over with, no more DC10, afterhours is being cracked down across the island; the locals are sick of the hordes of Eurotrash turds that wash up on their shores every summer. Im sure it will still be a slamming good time but Ibiza is not the monster it once was. i was once amped to go, but im disenchanted with the club scene of late, too busy trying to have a career and make loot, and every party seems to be the same recylced theme. i wish i was in my early twenties again, so you youngins' should live it up, drug it up, and love it up while you can

well said Zack! people keep repackaging the same banal super obvious observations that are never going to go away and are anything but new. drugs are to EDM, like cheese is to wisconsin, jambalaya is to new orleans, and beatdowns is to the LAPD. drugs are part of the club culture pure and simple.
another thing i dont get is how some people think it is absurd for LP to want to make a profit. the guy is a goddamn business man/owner, what the hell else is he in it for? for the greater EDM good? give me a break! if he could make more money by having some old bruised up turd play the harmonica he would! and you know what? so would I! and anyways, that man has done more for the miami club scene than anyone, so why all the animosity! offer up a free gig? are you crazy! the 93.1 gig was funded by advertisers and sponsers not from their own pocket. i will leave you with a quote from Gordon Gekko: " The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA. Thank you very much. "

oh wow, guess i'm glad i'm way more positive than you and that i have a career already and i'm sure i'm way older than you. although i didn't get into this scene until about 4 years ago. i highly doubt that ibiza is washed up since the massive amounts of djs that are all scheduled to spin there all summer long. and yes DC10 is closed for 57 days, that sucks but the other clubs are open and there will be many wonderful and crazy adventures i will find and get into and i will have an unbelievablely fun time
sorry you're disenchanted with the club scene although my philosophy is your good time is what you make it and how you go into it and approach it. hopefully you'll find whatever it is that excites you again and good luck with finding that career, they can be elusive

i agree, your good time is what you make of it, my good time is just more of a layed back theme these days. my problem is that when i party i GO ALL OUT. there can be no in between. i dont recover like i used to, so i was just finding out that i was unmotivated and useless for days after. its just not conducive for me to be financially and personally successful anymore. i will always love the club scene in one capacity or another but i had my day in the sun(figuratively and literally, lol), partyied for days on end, and saw and witnessed some truly amazing moments.
im just now shifting into another frame of mind/existence now, and for me its more rewarding. dont get me wrong you have to balance work with play, but im just picking my spots now, picking a day or two a year to really get down and im cool with it. some people start later in life and some start early, so go with what makes you feel good i was in no way trying to be a downer on your ibiza trip, im sure it will be a blast in more ways than one.

yes it will and i totally understand what you're saying. i actually pick my parties a little more these days instead of just going out to go out. but damn we get so much here it's hard to take more than a weekend or two off a month

I'm just sayin' with all the greed and money he gets.. he can afford to throw a few parties here and there with more unknown names. I'm sure the Morillo parties more than make up for any loss he "might" have. Which I didn't fuking bring up on purpose. I just wanted to see who or what owned cameo to see the logic between sharing PvD on a single night.
He's got to learn how to do things like the interview with the Cielo owner that was posted in TNL. He's built up this massive crowd that he can afford to bring in lesser known techno dj's for the Thursday night parties. Which are fuking awesome. His friday & saturday night gigs make up for any loss.
I just wish Miami was like that.
I liked the party and I would have preffered pvd in 1 venue over sharing him. That's all. I'll still prob come by next June as always but now I hope it's a mainroom 3 hour or more set.
I love my German

well, i live in LA and i've been to every club out here and we are supposed to have one of the best scenes in the US. we get everybody coming through here, we have to make decisions about which top dj to go see every weekend practically but i've been to space terrace, although only during conference so maybe it's different, but i have yet to experience the vibe that i have felt on the terrace at like 6-7 am, a sick ass track was just dropped, kryo blows in your face, you're all alone for those few seconds and i don't know, it just warms me from the inside out! don't get me wrong, there are crackheads everywhere. we probably have the worst here in LA, the washers we like to call them! lol and it is part of our scene but in the US, i have to agree there is no feeling like the space terrace.
now, i'm off to Ibiza in august so i'm sure i'll experience those "super" clubs and party all night and into the morning on the beach and feel like i've died and gone to heaven but south florida is lucky, fortunate to have what space terrace can give
you know, just my 2 cents and it's worth about half of that |
Yeah, My clubbing experience of LA blew to be honest, saw pvd last time he played the Vangaurd...ugh, horrible crowd, nice main room but awful flow to it if you need to take a piss or get a drink.
Like I say, Space is as good as I've experienced in USA but thats not really saying much. Yes every club is probably a crack den but with most clubs being dark you're not really exposed so much to the mutant like figures you get to see in the daylight of space. The crack heads aren't really an issue, just a scary sight at 10am on a sunday morning. The issue is the heavy handed security in clubs here, do Space really need to recruit 50 bouncers to keep order at an electronic music event? It's ridiculous, almost feel like I'm being watched by eagle eyed nazi's at times in Space. I mean what was the deal with Hitler himself standing infront of the dj box during pvd on sunday? even telling 1 guy to stop recording on his cyber shot?
From my trips to the likes of Amnesia, Godskitchen, Gatecrasher, Cream, Privilege, Space Ibiza you really don't see many if any bouncers once inside the club. The scene just doesn't attract the kind of crowd that warrants heavy handed bouncers in my opinion at least.
As for Ibiza, every year people claim it's not the same blah blah blah, it's still the best place in the world to go clubbing by a million miles! and always will be I think. Tiesto's shows at Privilege are sure to be amazing!
