I gotta say that I appreciated the move to Flemington. The bowl is old and there are no surprises there.
We had a top time at Future this year walking around to all the different stages, which were better produced and bigger than they ever were at the Bowl. There was much more to see and do and we spent half the day and night lost amongst it. It felt more like a Euro festival than the ones I've come to expect in Melb. I've gotta take my hat off to Future for moving to a more interesting location and doing a bang up job this year.
As for the music, Bassment Jaxx were the mother of all disappointments. We couldn't figure out what the hell they were playing, it sounded like they should have been headlining a jazz festival. Absolutely awful. At one point I'm sure I saw the black chick dancing with a giant kangaroo, but I could be wrong. I thought the line up on the main stage was a bit off, but thank god the other stages made up for it.
Highlight of the day for me was Christopher Lawrence, who rocked the GK stage. He lived up to his reputation, proper solid trance start to end. I've heard he's living here now and hoping that Future makes him a resident because the man delivers every time. Markus did a decent enough job, but I was so amped after Christopher that it felt a bit flat.
Suprisingly enough I thought Oakenfold did a good job, I've seen him before and he was a bit weak, but he pulled a rabbit out of his hat this time.
Not sure about Ritchie Hawtin. I think the cube was confusing him.
Had a laugh at the roller rink watching the chicks in their disco gear and some guy with an afro.
All in all a great day, I'll be back next year for sure.

Thats gold
Sound was pretty shit in Adelaide too, strange things happening at the GK stage, which compared to the others was a let down production wise too. Not only that it was on the complete opposite side of the site from where it was on the map. Took me an a friend about 30 mins to find it. Not even the security guards knew where it was.
Basement Jaxx sounded like crap too, I'm sure there were different sounds in there somewhere but at some points it just sounded like a mash of screeching.
Apart from that, Basement Jaxx were a little disappointing. They were good but nothing earth shattering, not even close to the top of the live acts I've seen. I do like Basement Jaxx and have a few of their albums, but live they weren't anything great. They had some brilliant moments, but as a whole, not great.
Super8 and Tab were quite good, just a pretty quality trance set.
Christopher Lawrence was great, loved his entire set. Started off a bit psy with some monger rolling basslines and then the last hour switched to more of a typical trance. Second time I've seen him and I keep wishing I was able to see him play more often. Had an argument with some friends over who was going to be better, CL (me) or NERD (who they were going to see), I'm sure I was right.
I was planning on ducking over to Oakenfold for an hour but only lasted 15 minutes, totally didn't do it for me. I was expecting to be disappointed by him, he delivered on a whole other level. Was very commercial and obvious house. At no point during that 15 minutes did I think 'wow', I just thought 'yeah, that track......yeah, that track'.
I wasn't planning on seeing any of Schulz but ended up seeing about 75-90 mins of him and loved him as usual. As a result completely missed Hawtin. Oh well, Schulz was rocking it. It was about 75 mins in when I finally succumbed and choked on the dust. Think the dust was the worst its been in the 3 years they've had the parties at Rundle Park.
Etienne de Crecy, awesome live show. Music wasn't bad for electro either , actually really enjoyed my time at his stage (about 45 mins).
So although there were a couple of things I didn't enjoy, as a whole it was a good day. The only reason I went to see cOakenfold was to tick him off my list, I knew he wasn't going to be anything like '98 Oakie. I was expecting Basement Jaxx to be better. The rest of the acts I saw were great.
