At least on the one with the Red Bull booth, you can actually hear the treble being rammed up when he twists the knob. Sounds awful though.
However...he's playing a mixmag CD. Listen at the vocal that kicks in around the 0:15 mark...at 0:20 you can hear "MIXMAG!". What a fucking joke.

The best part is that he tried to explain away his mad attacking of the treble knob as some sort of secret DJing tactic Arthur Baker taught him!

"Im messing with the eq. on the desk , as taught to me by the great Arthur Baker, to emphasise rolls hand claps effects etc, then you sneak the bottom end out then bring it back in suddenly for added frisson. Shit he will kill me for telling you!"

I wonder what Arthur Baker has to say about playing Mixmag discs and fucking about pretending to look busy. Or awful Dad dancing, for that matter.

+ luck obviously. I've tried the "I'm a big fan of your music" myspace message tactic so many times, even when it's a lie, and yet have never had the success of a response.

their dad was a big NYC disco/house deejay really involved in the early scene, so it wasnt just luck.

also i have to make a comment about jeff mills. When the man plays, you can feel the energy radiating from his hands. watch the animation in his hands when he deejays, it is just like watching a legendary jazz saxophonist.

all of these little twitches and adjustments you see are visceral manifestations of the man's creative impulse

it's as if he's possessed.

it's inspiring

Yes, but their dad wasn't a dj. I have a clue also, doesn't mean Kerri Chandler is knocking at my door and asking me to play at the shelter.

Oh I never said they were bad at all. I'm just saying, part of it has to be luck.
