The realism is what really got me into it. I listened to a few interviews with writers & consultants they used for the show on NPR & it is heavily influenced by actual cases in Baltimore.
Omar was great, but Mcnulty? Textbook tragic hero. I was shocked when Stringer, well, you know.
And if you're feeling jaded, I think that's the point of the show. The hopelessness of the fight to do good in Baltimore.
