Yes I've been there before and after. It always sucks.
That club has shit sound regardless of its size. Have you ever been to Space Miami? Have you been to Studio A in Miami?
There is no excuse for Opera sounding like it does. I don't care how big it is. |
of course I have been to space in Miami, I have been there probably around 30 times and guess what, their sound system does not sound anything like what it used to. So now, you can no longer use them as an example.
Studio A is no more and has not been for awhile. So maybe they put too much money in their sound system and did not know how to balance the budget.
You got any other examples besides space and studio a, because I can assure you, if its in the states and well known, i have been there. Really your arguing a losing battle.
Right now one of the best sound systems in a club thats still open in the US would probably go to Firestone in Orlando. Concert halls do not count...... most of them sound good because the bands and artist they bring in require a certain standard

When I was there in 2008, it wasn't comparable to Opera. That's what I'm talking about. |
I never said Opera was ever better than space. Its not, but until you can show me a club with as much open air as Opera that sounds better, I still think everyone is being too picky. Spaces main room is actually pretty small ever since they put the loft in.
I mean, if we are comparing sound systems of wherever to whatever then my car sounds better than any club I have ever been to thus far. Why...... because 2 grand worth of mids and highs goes a lot further in filling a small space. When it comes down to it you can not compare what you have heard in a smaller sized club to a big club with a ton of open air.
Anyhow, I think we got off on the wrong foot, if your going to be at NATC on saturday come find me by the lasers and I will buy you a shot. I am not trying to be an ass, I just have a lot of experience when it comes to sound and will voice my opinion.

I haven't been to enough "clubs" to be able to compare. All I know is that I've never been to a concert or dj for that matter where the sound was perfect. There is always distortion. I've been to Opera a few times where it didn't sound bad at first, but by the end of the night all the vocals were pitched and I couldn't really make out melodies. This was before I started wearing earplugs to everything. I know that doesn't solve everything, but to me loudness is the biggest issue. The Tiesto show at NATC was the absolute worst sound I've ever heard though. Hope it's not like that Saturday for you Dream Beamz. And by the way, I doubt Sam or anyone else will hold the discussion against you. We're all cool here.
