No, I'm just saying...that's usually the response you hear from people when abuse happens. "It's not your fault, honey. You didn't deserve that, he's a sick man/got problems." Without ever acknowledging that the woman clearly has issues as well/contributed to the problem. Because heaven forbid we deprive her of being a victim. |
Well that's totally true. And the laws in the US really support that sort of behaviour - "domestic abuse" is a legitimate concern that is largely blundered by the fact that "abuse" can be a whole range of activities that really aren't all that abusive.
I know of an abusive couple right now as well - he is horrible to her. But she is a fucking dumb whore just the same - they are both horrible people and they probably deserve one another.
In terms of violence, just like Freak said: If it happens once, it will happen again. That's because people are either prone to acting out their emotions physically, or can be reasoned with emotionally through conversation or therapy. Really though, the latter is only "normal" because society has deemed it as such, though it has not always done so, so I am sure you are aware. We are all basically capable of the same things.
The sad part is to think that men and women usually act the way they do because they were brought up that way. Every monster was made that way by somebody at some point, and a stern or gentle hand at one point or another may have made all the difference.
