i can honestly say that my biggest fear in life is getting cheated on by my husband or having a failed marriage for whatever reasons...especially when kids are involved. ughh...i dunno if i could handle that. it's scary. my bf and i have talked about it and i know he's gonna pop the question some day, probably even later this year, who knows...but sometimes when we talk about it, it's like i'm happy, but inside my heart starts beating a little faster like 'oh shit, this is for real'.

haha... yeah even if you're excited, the moment it becomes "real" and there's no turning back, a certain sense of added responsibility washes over you. And for me, I was irresponsible for most of my life (not counting school and work). But if you're in the right relationship, that feeling is just a flash in the pan. It feels great to be married for me. ALthough, I do imagine when kids become part of the equation, things do become REALLY real. lol

my bf isn't a citizen so he kinda needs to get his paperwork done or marry me. i know it wouldn't be very romantic to get married just so he can be official here but whatever. a girlfriend of mine is only 25 and she has been married for 4 years and she married her husband so he could be a citizen. she met him in argentina when she was 17 and a foreign exchange student. they've been dating for ever. he's a pilot and travels a lot and she is still in school. i was talking with her the other night about how patrick isn't a citizen and she was like, "well if u guys know you're it for each other, just get married. who cares what people say" and i was like, "yea i guess" but then i got that worried feeling again like, "omg marriage". lol

Marriage is a one time deal for me. I'm only doing it once. And I know I'm with the right person, so weirdly, nothing scares me anymore. Not even marriage statistics!

since no one is posting this on MY fkn thread ill post it here

engagement is ok- i like people who have been engaged for like 9 years.. they're not rushing anything & they're just proving that if they get married its going to be no different story.

i think marriage is kinda overrated.. first off i dont want to get married until im DONE with my studies. & i'd have to be (at least) in my mid-20's..

children- ehh... it'd have to be like.. WAYYY later on.. theyre such a pain in the ass & id deff only have ONE.

but, id rather stay with someone a VERRRY long time before getting married. like this old couple- they were both divorced like 3 times & they met eachother n fell in love (theyre like 50 now) & he asked her to marry him 3 times & she rejected him 3 times but he was still with her, for like 7 yrs? & then on the 4th time she said yes & theyre still together.. i think thats awsm.

i could definitely see myself as being engaged for like 5 years and being the one avoiding planning the wedding while my fiance' is like "wtf let's do this already"

my wife is from a foreign country... I had to go through all that bullshit so I know exactly what you're talking about. I spent the money to have an attorney handle everything, which is the way to go. It was totally worth it though.

My wife and I were engaged and married in 10 days' time. I highly suggest this route as there is no time to get stressed about the whole situation.

long engagements are bs. It's just dragging out. What's the point in asking someone to marry you if you're not ready to make the commitment?

It was awesome in its simplicity. 25 people (mostly family) in my parents' back yard. Drunken shenanigans ensued after a quick 10 minute ceremony. My ordained cousin married us. We honestly shot for under 10 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 11. I hate wasting time.

We did a proper reception a few months later with more extended family and friends (~85 people).
