anyway, i've only followed this poll for the past 4 years, and i think this is the last year i'm going to be looking out for it. the commercialization of EDM ruined it in the late 90s, and its doing it again. oh and fuck the hipsters.

many would argue Schulz is part of what ruined this poll.

This reason is because Markus schulz's marketing team has been slaking this year, that's why he's not num 1, you can not possibly think that people vote and it's all legit can you? Dude this whole thing is a scam, DJ's pay the guys at DJ mag for a ranking and thats how they get there "special number" Don't beliveve me? ask Above & Beyond /Ricky Stone, the list goes on...

I do have to admit that I'm quite intrigued by electro-house's rise this year. All the Swedish Mafia made significant gains, as did many of their associates. It wouldn't surprise me if they completely supplant the old progressive guard next year.

Good to see Christopher Lawrence back in the poll again.

As much as I love Sasha and the other prog Djs, their sound has become so boring over the past few years that I'm not surprised to see them drop.

I suspect electro house Djs will slowly replace progressive ones because electro actually has energy.

Time to print out the results & individually wrap them around my glow sticks so I know who I'm twirling for.

Your theory somewhat falls on its face when you consider Nick Warren's rebound. None of the DJs you mentioned are playing strictly progressive. Electrohouse has zero scope beyond a dancefloor tightly packed with sweaty underage clubbers.
