Really? Like who? Because I have NEVER heard anyone say that it doesn't exist. Never. At least not from anyone that mattered.

look brethren, what I've come to realize is that when the TA's back in 2002/2003 said progressive trance didn't exist, it wasn't because they thought it didn't exist whatsoever. it was because of shitty tracks being mislabeled as progressive trance. when so many shitty tracks were being called progressive trance like McProg, you have to question the existence of trance tracks that are innovative and progressive.

it should just be called mcdonalds trance - drop the prog from the name.

well if it wasn't talked about anywhere else, it was debated in Music Discussion. people were even calling tracks just Progressive to avoid confusion if it's the house or trance side.

I wasn't a trance.nu guy, but I just searched up trance.nu and they were even having progressive house vs. trance battles too.

Confused

Trance is Trance. Progressive nowdays is not sounding like the original trance at all. Trance is more melodic, progressive is more club type of stuff.

And when you glare into the monitor, the monitor is glaring back. Not that you'd find Nietzsche controversial.

I highly doubt you'd ever be able to find Nietzsche, at all.

sure they're classified as "progressive trance" but that track specifically does not sound progressive at all.

That's because progressive trance is not progressive. It is not a modifier within a distinctive aesthetic like "acid" or "deep", it is the intellectual extension of a genre within the framework of an existing genre of music. Progressive rock is an extension of rock. Progressive trance is an extension of trance. Progressive house (and it's progeny: Prog) is an extension of house. Progressive breaks is an extension of breaks. Four entirely different music branches that have absolutely nothing to do with each other, despite sharing the same name.

No. At the time, this was hard trance.

aka the mid 90s German Trance sound: fast beats and screaming acid with either piano lines or strings or cathedral choruses. It would morph into Nu-NRG (and then hard dance, along with uk hard house and hardstyle) a few years later.

I don't care what you think about it, I'm only showing you what it is.

This is probably the most famous progressive trance track:

The is my favorite progressive trance track:

the genre branching, web designing mothafucka has spoken.

Ishkur, I'm not sure why you're mad at me. you must've gone through some bullshit outside of this forum. I'll respond to your post later.

He wrote the somewhat infamous Guide to Eletronic Music.
