So, it was fun and I had a good time...but he confirmed what I felt before... I love listening to his sets at home and melting in the couch. But at the club, he's all over the place. Has some flow, but I get quickly bored for some reason.

The tunes he played at 4:15 for an hour were great (and the Holden-Nothing remix); the rest of the time, he built up a bit some steam, and then quickly let it out. And repeated.

Haven't been on a Saturday since the merge, and it's crowded (like how it used to be): that's just the way it's gonna be from now on. Avalon has to make money. I like room to dance and have some breathing space, but most nights it's going to be crowded like that. We'll just have to deal with it.

Yes, some of the people suck and they can't understand personal space to save their lives. Usually they're so cracked out that if you're aggressive against them, they back off (and I'm so not an aggressive guy).

Made me much more excited for Digweed this weekend, even though I have to skip out on some friends Sunday.

Nice meeting everyone there

My first night at Avalon surprisingly.

Had a great night. Thought Sasha was playing quite hard at some points but loved the progression of his music throughout the night.

I took some video as well and we'll be sure to put it up as soon as I can.

Looking forward to Digweed this coming weekend.

Ouf...I don't really wanna just judge the short sample but what a boring remix. Sounds like max graham sidechain prog from 5 years ago.

I'll take the 93 returning mix over that any day, or the versions Holden did that appeared on the Fundacion CD which actually have depth to them.

Julia I think we officially have completely different taste in music.

Pretty sure that is a DJM-800, and it looks like the laptop was for recording purposes only.

Sasha is back to CDs now, as per this interview:

No doubt, the 93 returning mix is still the best.

You had to have been there to understand.

I liked the stuff you played when you opened for Burridge/Lawler (in fact, I liked your stuff better than Burridge/Lawler), so I don't think we have completely different taste in music.

I seriously doubt that.

I'm glad you enjoyed some of the music I play, but this is tune of the year? really? lol

It's only March but I can already think of plenty of nice vocal tunes that kick the shit out of that remix...like this one:

That is just my opinion of course. That Nothing remix is very polished, and very straight forward, and it is driving and club friendly, but none of its ideas are particularly interesting to me.

I wouldn't be amazed if it's because of the CDJ2000 and what it can do. I need to get my hands on the software that comes with it, but I think it helps makes some things easier like it does in Ableton which lets him focus on other things (if he so chooses). I could be wrong in thinking what you can do with the software though.

The instant I saw the feature set of the CDJ2000 I thought to myself if I ever could afford those badboys, then I wouldn't use ableton myself. Use a CDJ2000 and EFX box. He can demand the CDJ2000 per his contract and afford personal ones so maybe that's what he's done.

Well, as I understand it, it saves loops and cue points, almost endlessly, so if you're going around playing on them with the same music all the time you end up with all your stuff saved! Given that for Sasha beatmatching probably takes all of 5 seconds, and the looping is now seamless on them, I'm sure it really isn't that much different than using ableton, at least in terms of mixing. Plus as he said in the interview he's doing a lot more edits before hand instead of on the fly (which is probably the better way to do it).

It seems that after his Maven broke down and he started to use the new CDJs he just decided to stick with them for a bit.
