so wait you sub players after they've played their games to get the highest total?
Yeah , i kinda figured that out after the group stage.
You can sub players playing the next day to replace players who have already played the day before and may have scored low with the expectations that their replacements will score higher than them UNLESS the player got a red card in which case you cannot sub them (damn Suarez).
Example: For today, if you only had 3 defenders all of whom played - Heitinga , Van Bronckhorst and Pereira and Heitinga only scored 2 points , you can sub him out with say, Lahm before the Germany game thinking that Lahm will score higher but you forfeit the 2 points that Heitinga had.
I would have been higher up the table if i knew about that in the group stage

I would say Podolski. Going by past experience , Klose usually scores against teams that are weak defensively (Argentina and England were classic examples).
He is a poacher and poachers usually struggle against teams with rock solid defenses (assuming the entire Spanish 11 come out to play tomorrow) so he can't produce that individual skill or those long range rockets that Podolski can.
Since Mueller is out , in my opinion Schweinsteiger is the most likely player to get the goals for Germany tomorrow. He is the big game player. I would have made him captain if i didn't think Spain was going to win and if Sneijder (current captain) had not fetched 11 points today.

me too, and for now i've basically chosen a starting eleven and stuck to it. I guess I can at least claim that it makes me being where I am in the table good

Trouble is, the match tonight is so hard to call. I could conceivably see either team scoring and keeping a clean sheet, I can see a multi-goal classic and I can even see a 0-0 with penalties at the end.
my problem is this: my 2 goal keepers (from the very start of the tournament) have been stekelenburg and casillas. stekelenburg only got me 4 points....so i sub in casillas. but i personally believe germany will win and am rooting for them. aside from casillas i have one spanish player on the pitch and then quite a few germans. i did choose podolski over klose, thinking that perhaps with mueller out more of the attack will focus on his side of the pitch. i wish i had chosen a worthy captain from the holland game - i had sneijder as well, i don't know what prompted me to expect goals from van persie (only 7 points for him so i change captain...)
i have bastian playing as well, and it's an interesting point you raise about goals likely to come from him, but i have faith in lukas!

Well, my faith in the Spaniards paid off. Fantastic round for me with 105 points. Looks like I'm facing lievez in the final. Got a little help from the ref on the Quarters though.

My final team is just 7 spaniards, 2 uruguayans and some dutch.
