Oh shit! So it turns out that the Supreme Court judge who reversed the ban on oil drilling - he clearly made the judgement based on personal bias. The douche owned (and was forced to sell to cover his ass) stocks in various oil and drilling companies! Oh man, this story is just getting uglier and uglier ...

— A financial disclosure report released Friday shows that the Louisiana judge who struck down the Obama administration's six-month ban on deep-water drilling in the Gulf has sold many of his energy investments. U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman still owns eight energy-related investments, including stock in Exxon Mobil Corp. Among the assets he sold was stock in Transocean, which owned the rig that exploded.

Yeah, but this guy is a SUPREME COURT judge. He's not just a regular dude on the street supporting BP because he owns their stocks. The whole country depends on judges' unbiased and honest decisions on very important matters. He should know better and not exercise his decision-making abilities in cases where it comes to matters of conflicting personal interests.

Interests of the country and the public need to be their priority over personal preference and bias. Just like with other occupations, be it police officers or politicians. When they don't, thats when bad things happen. Thats when laws start breaking down, accidents happen, when corruption becomes a serious problem.

sure, when the USA will become the Sovietic United States of America then the people's priorities will be his (by force of course)... till then, these things happen and will happen again, and I don't see anything wrong with that. Legislators are there to balance the judiciary power.

LOL ... you think that dictators of Soviet Union CARED about the PUBLIC or the PEOPLE? They didnt give a shit about them. They lied to them, they stole from the people, they systematically killed them and suppressed them. That judge suppressed the public good for the sake of his personal bias. In Soviet Union, it was way worse than in British Petroleum's corporatocracy. Thats why when all the smokescreens came down and it all ended, the fairy tale bullshit was over and people realized that everything was a big lie.

Much like here with BP. They were putting people in harm's way and doing considerable environmental damage for as long as anyone can remember, and using their deep pockets to dodge problems with paying fines, public relations and with good lawyers ... it was only a matter of time before it all caught up with them. Now their party is over, and they have to face the music.

Another brainwashed poor sap. My condolences

I take it, you've spent most of your life being oppressed by the evil empire, didn't you?

I lived there up until 97, I've seen it all ... isn't it obvious? No, not majority of my life, but my first 13 years (I am only 26). Even today, the same old shit goes on back there. Media sensorship, assassinations of journalists and anti-government politicians, awful bureaucracy, extremism, out-of-control crime, demographic and cultural decline, life expenctancy drops, red tape and neglect. People's lives are still worthless in Russia.

I suggest you read a good book on new Russia, called Kremlin Rising. Thats that kind of shit I was happy to get out of.

This oil spill is being used so obama can pass the carbon tax on Americans. Look up lidnsay williams on youtube he is an expert on oil drilling (CEO of an Alaskan pipeline) and explains what happened and the real truth of what is spewing out of the the pipe. These toxic chemicals are killing crops, people, and devastating the coast.

The terible thing is that many countries have ships that are more than capable of handling this spill and the Obama crooks wont let foriegn aid to contain the spill. Obama should be impeached.

It's specifically states per day, for each person. Whatever.

It's just never cease to amuse me, exactly same people, who're complaining about BP now, live in 3000 sq. ft. house for 3-4 people, have 2-3 SUV/minivans/trucks in the garage, and they're the ones making big stink about BP.
Get rid of your big gas guzzlers, move to a smaller place, take public transport to work.
Stop being such hypocrites.

We didn't have to drill in the fucking gulf. What BP has done was a stupid decision. Even the engineers told BP that what they were doing was to dangerous for any drilling company to attempt. Also have you ever heard of Abiotuc Oil? Its a theory that states that oil wells regenerate and fill back up. Eugene Island is a prime example of such theory. There is also a reason why the supreme court did not pass the bill. They knew that BP would benefit from this bill because they have supported climate change legislation . What you are being told and what is really going on are two different things and I encourage you all to research BPs roll in Gov regulations

Why do people keep saying that? All of the conspiracy theorists that I know have told me this, but it makes no sense.

It took Obama a ton of effort to pass Medicaire with much opposition, and you think this theoretical tax will even be considered?! If anything, Obama should pass the carbon tax ONTO CORPORATIONS, not the average American.

Carbon tax on the corporations would eventually trickle down to the consumer kind of like the taxes on cigarettes in NY. Also why would this not make sense? Obama has clearly stated he wants alternative energy to be produced due to curb climate change which we all know now is a scam from Hackers who obtained e-mails from the Climatic Research Unit at East Anglia University in the UK. SO what a perfect opportunity for obama to push a tax right? Just like what Rahm Emanuel White House Chief of Staff stated " You never want a serious crisis to go to waste" We already have seen a few Carbon tax bills trying to make their way in our gov\ since the oil spill
