the point here is that someone's stance on gay marriage will not win or lose them the election, as it shouldn't. that stance also will not be a precursor as to how well they manage/lead the country and deal with the "more important" things we face as a nation.

I really don't like Michele Bachmann, however, don't you think both sides portray the same hypocrisy? I mean, we've had some pretty wacko Democrats too... When he was running for President, he clearly stated he believed there should be 'gay marriage' and now you see recent quotes like:

Homosexuals need help. There are wonderful programs which under Bachman, the government would subsidize so they can get the help they need. 6 months of rigorous sunrise to sunset biblical instruction should do the trick.

The point is, Bachmann's stance on gay marriage and other wedge issues are what WOULD win her the election, if that were to actually happen. The voting base she would draw from isn't essentially voting for her so much as they're voting AGAINST everyone else, especially in support of keepin THEM THERE GAYS FROM MARRYING.
