I just went back through the game w/ Desiderata
to see those three moves I posted about earlier.
I only found two.

Detail:
In this image you'll see that I lost my rook because
my bishop moved up and was wanting to attack
his king. I moved from behind my rook leaving it
wide open to an attack by his bishop. You'll
see my strategy in green.

Detail:
In this image you can see his rook taking my rook.
My queen actually takes his pawn, to avoid getting
it taken by his bishop, but I lost my rook. This
shouldn't have happened. You'll see my next play
in green.

Detail:
This image depicts a resignation by Desiderata
The only play was to move his bishop to block
my queen. However, checkmate was inevitable.

Detail:
No it wasn't. We're looking at this kinda out of
sequence. This was the move prior, leading up to
your suggestion. He moved his bishop in position to
capture my queen. However, my next move was to take
his pawn, leaving my rook exposed to his rook which
was then taken. In the moves leading up to
this exchange I felt like I should've moved my
rook's position as it was serving no purpose just
chillin in the corner.

the notation your describing suggests that the move my Queen makes to capture a piece @ b2 is a dumb move. You also suggest that I should have lost my queen by his bishop moving to a5 which would put me in check.

See here:

however, the board wasn't set up that way. My king was at: d8 and my queen was never at a5.
