197/?? SB/CS for Jackie. (CS stats weren't kept until '51, but I'd estimate it to about 58 CS's)
30/18 SB/CS for Mo.

.311/.409/.474 for Jackie in a non-offensive era.
.293/.383/.523 for Mo in an extreme offensive era.

Oh. Okay. That makes him better than Jackie Robinson. Sorry.

And that year wasn't even that amazing from him. Sheffield and McGwire both had better years.

Well he started with that number before it was retired, so whatever. Atleast he is doing that number justice.

Vaughn was definitely on the juice, hence.... I don't want to look at his stats. I know that Trancehater loves juicers (or just Juiceambi) but in my book, comparing him to someone that revolutionized baseball by pushing the door for blacks to enter the sport is very insulting!

Think about it this way, Jackie played the game when everyday he had to come to the ballpark to racist slurs. Or to continually get death threats trying to get him to quit. The pressure on Jackie was more than anyone probably in the history besides Hank Aaron chasing the Babe. Jackie is a stud. Mo Vaughn pales in comparison to those achievements.

1995 mvp! robinson might have done more for game but mo was better player, he was quite nimble at 1st if you remember too. so he was in top 5 in baseball in 1996 was jackie ever in top 5? or mvp voting? If he didnt get the Mets curse , he would have been a Hall of fame candidate

I agree in that aspect 100%, he was a great man that persevered over the elements

Jackie Robison was 3rd in OPS in 1949, 4th in 1951, and 2nd in 1952. He also won the NL MVP in 1952. He led the league in BA in 1949. He led the league in OBP in 1952. He was third in SLG in 1949(Interesting...). He led the league in SBs in 1947 (his rookie year [when he won RotY]) and in 1949. Besides his 1 MVP year, he ranked in the top 10 3 additional times in his 10 year career. He was 3rd in Runs Created in 1949, 1951, and 1952.

Mo Vaughn was MVP in 1995. The closest he came to leading the league in OPS was in 1998 when he was 5th. He never ranked higher than 6th in SLG(Interesting...). Besides his 1 MVP, he ranked in the top 10 2 other times in his 12 year career. He led the league in SOs in 1995 and 2000... and that's about it.

Who's better than who now?

Robinson was no Gretzky, but if it wasnt for him, the sport would not have 'evolutionized' the way it did.

I don't know why it is that people have the perception that Jackie Robinson is only famous because he was the first professional black player. He was a damn good baseball player.
