Here in the US, and across much of Europe, there's a thriving craft beer market. Not all liquor stores have good selections but I'm sure we all have our favorite retailers. It seems as though Australia is lagging behind in the craft beer scene. Sushi's growing interest in trying some of the beers we always talk about made this apparent. There are some online bottle shops that cater to you aussies and sell beers from all over. Stu went ahead with ordering some.

The local craft beer store I go to just got their on-site license so they can have tastings and function essentially like a regular bar.

Next wednesday they're having a tasting of 4 different Dogfish Head beers and 2 Sierra Nevadas with complimentary hors d'oeuvres for only $15. It said it was 40oz of beer total, so seems like a pretty good deal.

I forget the beers that were mentioned aside from Dogfish Head- Theobroma, and Dogfish Head-My Antonia.

Apparently Dogfish Head and Sierra Nevada are collaborating on a craft brew sometime in the next year or so.

Old Rasputin is gross.

Hercules is divine.

Picked up some James Squire IPA this morning, as well as some more of the Murray's Craft Brewing Co "Icon IPA-2" which I've had before.

*gets post-it notes ready for srussell*

^^ So, it's ok, but a bit "meh" IMO. 5.6% ABV. Pretty hoppy in flavour, without much malt at all, but it's got a weird aftertaste that isn't that appealing, and it tastes a bit watered down compared to the other IPAs I've tried.

I'd get it again, because it's pretty cheap, but only if I particularly wanted an IPA, and there were no other ones to choose from (which unfortunately, is quite likely in the future, lol )
