Is that just the top layer, or the screen itself? Will it display anything?

It works fine...
Its just the actual glass/plastic thats the screen of the phone.
I thought the phone was fine, but it landed on its face. I have dropped the phone many times but it falls on the back. This time i didn't get so lucky...

I hope it's cheap ... I saw the unit @ PMALL last weekend, don't know how much it was selling for.
Today, the news broke that the HTC Dream, the first handset to run Android (aka "the Google Phone") has been approved by the FCC. In the documents provided, it appears that we have now a release date for this highly anticipated phone: November 10th, 2008.
HTC Dream will offer the following features:
* Touch screen
* Full Qwerty keyboard
* 3G/ WiFi
* Full HTML internet capabilities
* Easy access to all Google applications (Gmail, Gtalk, search)
* Maps
* Street view
* YouTube
* Phone
* IM/Text
* Email
* Camera 3.0mp; no flash
* Video (playback only, no recording)
* Music player & 1GB memory card pre-loaded
* Applications, all available in Google marketplace (icon on the homescreen)
Engadget adds that the Dream will also offer Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR compliance and has a "jogball"

That looks sweet, but the screen is so small.
I have been used to the 7100 and Pearl length screens so it seems smaller to me anyhow.

The screen is shorter and the unit is wider and longer.

They were playing tight and didn't at first.
But if there one thing i know, its that if you raise hell enough they will fold.
And they did. Took me around 2hrs on hold and talking to 2133213 people until i made it happen...
