Edit: Oh yeah, small update (like anyone cares)... I did my regular running routine, but running on tips of my toes (that's apparently healthier for the knees and great workout for calves). The next day my calves got sore and I still did the daily running. Now they're burning. I'm gonna run again tonight.

its hard to cut up and lift at the same time...im finding it easier to run it out and drop the weight then start lifting cuz the lifting part is much easier then the cardio lol

actually the cardio is getting easier and its fun too...once you start focusing on your breathing and you get a light sweat going, you just don't want to stop. easy 2MI every day, sometimes i bike at night and rollerblade on the weeekends...

lifting i agree does tighten up things, but during this cardio stage that i'm in...the only lifting i really do is muscle group, so i hammer my tri's one day, chest another, bi's, back, legs, shoulders - they all get maybe 4-5 lifting workouts then followed by a 2MI run on the treadmill...end all of my gym days with ab work outs.

ab workouts i do - leg lifts, cycle crunches, body bar twist, machine crunches, medicine ball twist, and i use the balance ball and rest my legs on it in a push up position and roll my knees to my stomach - i absolutely love the balance ball ab workout, im dripping with sweat after each set, 4 sets of 15...

Question,is it necessary to do various abdominal exercises? Right now all I do is 15 leg raises and immediately follow without a break into 12 reg crunches x 4 three times a week and 12-15 trunk bends holding 35lbs x 3 twice a week. Is that enough?

I'm no expert, but I would imagine that yes, doing different types of abdominal exercises is ideal. Gotta work those obliques and stuff too!

lol there is this guy at my gym, he's hilarious. Every time he works out, I crack up. He'll be doing bench presses, and he just goes, "Yeaaaaaaaaaaaah" every time he finishes a rep, it's hilarious. And he walks around the gym holding like, 100 lbs dumbbells and saying to himself, "feel the BUUURRNNN!". meat heads are so fucking crazy, I love it.

lol - a guy that used to go to my gym would punch the backrests on the machines like he was hitting a punching bag. He'd do that (poorly) for like 30 seconds then walk off nodding to himself like he's a badass. Then when he'd ask people to spot him and they'd get their fingers too close to the bar he'd SCREAM, "DON'T TOUCH!!". So embarrassing to watch >.<

meat heads are funny, i'm kinda friends with one at my gym and although he doesn't make sounds he'll break, talk to me for like a minute and pretty much tell me how hot he is and how everyone asks him how he has such ridiculous muscles and i secretly laugh every time
