Who gives a shit about the french president? Isnt the presidential role more ceremonial in france, ie don't they have a prime minister who is the real head of government?

that's why i fucking hate elected heads of state in the parliamentary system. they think they have a right to speak on behalf of their office when they most assuredly don't.

According to Ha’aretz, the Israeli government has information that Nicolas Sarkozy has derided Barack Obama as an empty suit on foreign policy. The French president, who has worked hard to bring his country closer to the center-right policies of strength especially on Iran and Israel, considers Obama “utterly immature” in this arena:

Can anyone blame him? Europe does not want direct presidential-level negotiations with Iran — they want the mullahcracy isolated. They need American strength behind that position in order to wring concessions from the ruling Guardian Council. With the price of oil plummeting over the past two months, the economic sanctions on Iran finally have a chance to bite the mullahs hard. Obama’s stated policy would undo everything just at the moment that it has a chance of producing real change.

In fact, Sarkozy believes that Obama would wind up being more unilateral than George Bush in his foreign policy. When a French politician uses the word “arrogant” as an accusation, that means something. Apparently, their brief meeting during the Obama World Tour did not set Sarkozy’s mind at ease. He saw something that makes him extremely uneasy with Obama in charge of American diplomacy.
Formulations empty of all content.

Sounds familiar, no? It has the ring of Hope and Change.

Dude. I'm not going to make accusations but I have made clear my feelings of the importance of citing sources in here. Everyone needs to make a conscious effort to show where their content is coming from. Deliberate or not, copy and pasting a foreign source verbatim without any noticeable indication it is not your own work is definitely uncalled for.

The French Embassy puts out a statement denying the Haaretz report that an Israeli official said President Sarkozy was troubled by his Iran policy:
quote:

The remarks attributed by the newspaper Haaretz to the president of the French Republic concerning Sen. Obama's positions on Iran are groundless. To the contrary, the in-depth discussions between the president of the Republic and Sen. Obama on Iran during their meeting in Paris in July demonstrated a broad convergence of views on this issue. President Sarkozy and Sen. Obama agree to oppose Iran's development of a military nuclear capability.

Well that lasted, what, a few hours? Keep digging.

the17sss, sorry but you fell for complete garbage. You should always be skeptical of unnamed sources. Especially coming from "Israeli government sources" who obviously want McCain to win.

I for one am willing to let it go as a simple slip. Forgot to put in the link, okay. I just take it as an example of the need to cite sources, and always cite them, clearly. Its funny this tends to be mostly a problem from a certain segment of PDD but I digress.

Though I wouldn't be opposed to a full vetting of past posting history to see if there is a pattern here. I'll leave that up to those that care.
