Do you mean when it's a remix?? It just means they've worked together on it I think

It is when two dj's "battle" it out on 4 decks (usually), trying to out do themselves with each mix.

For a remix its when to DJ's work together...they each might add or change certain elements then combine them to make 1 remix.

In the case of Corsten vs. Lemon, I believe there where only 2 turntables, Corsten on one and Lemon on the other, they would take turns mixing 1 song each...so say Corsten would bring in all the even songs (track..2,4,6..) and Lemon would bring in the others. Just taking turns

At least my theory.

the last rave i went to, there were about 4 "vs" sets...
what happens is one dj plays, then the other, or sometimes they'll do like a tag team type set where one will mix for a while, then the other, and they keep switching...
they just keep battling fro the crowds appreciation, it can get quite crazy sometimes...

The vs. sets can be one of two things:

1) The djs mix with each other i.e. generally sharing the same set of decks. If the 2 djs have totally different styles, it can make for a very interesting set.

or

2) They are up against each other, the first dj plays a full set, then the second plays their set & often the crowd is asked to judge it. An example of this would be the Armin van Helden vs. Fatboy slim ``event'' from 2 (orso) years back.

So I've kinda repeated exactly what everyone else has said ....

- A.

Yeah Bro, from the live trance sets played on our radio here, they qiute often play sets Back to back ieDJ Pire vs Kinesis), where they will play one track after the other, trying to better each other, can be good.
