Headphones: Pioneer HDJ1000?

Hey guys,

I was thinking about getting the Sony MDR-V700's or the technics headphones but think that I am going to go for the Pioneer HDJ1000's instead because I can pick them up for around the same as the sony's and alittle more than the technics. Since none of the shops around here have them I was wondering if any of you guys had them and if so what do u think of them? I would like to try them out before I buy them but i don't think that's possible. So, what do you guys think about them? I hav ean average size head so I don't think they should cause me any discomfort.

What do you guys think about them?

Thanks for your time.

Seany G

I've got a set of HDJ's. Great sound. Quality's good, but you know... it just looks great. I paid that little extra for the looks, even if no one really sees me wearing them.
As for the MDR's, never used 'em they also look pretty ( ) but from what I hear the bass is somewhat distorted (loud). However you could get used to it if you wanted too, and I'm sure they're not bad. I see em alot at the booths, but I love mine and I'd say if you can get em for a good deal like I did, go for it. Nothing better IMO.

yeah dont click twice. and you can also edit/delete your double post.

anyways , i wanted to get these headphones also. i could get them brand new for 125$ , i hate the technics the ear pad is really small but i kinda like the 700s but i heard from like everyone this forum that they break in like 1 year, i dont think i have a $100 to just throw away like that, so i think hdj for me. i never heard anything bad about the hdj and armin uses them so

i went into my local store to have a look at these... they didnt have them in stock but i mentioned i currently had a pair of technics 1200 headphones and they said i would be crazy to go from the techs to the hdj1000's... not one but 4 people that worked in the store said this.. and they are all local club djs.

they said the sound quality and weight of these was a big downside, turning them up to a loud sound level (to match a club enviroment) would have them distort rather badly and after long use they get very uncomfortable..

i suggest you try find somewhere that has these and test them out first before u buy, im certainly glad i didnt buy these online like i was going to after reading all the positive reports on these forums!

and yet you yourself haven't tried them, ha??? You listened to some workers at store and only 4 of them told their opinion, so how is that different from fellow TAs' advices given here on the board??? other then you have tons of positive comments about HDJ 1000?
And those 4 store clerks must have been on crack if they think that techs 1200 will outperform HDJ1000 and especially to tell you that after awhile, the HDJ1000 will become uncomfortable, WHAT???? I would sure like to try what ever the fcuk they were smoking, must have been some good dank!

Mate, dance arena would have been able to get them in easy for abour $280. Seriously though you're weighing off opinions and you chose to go with the people who dont wear them????

The hdj's are sensational and shit on the technics.
