some help with ACID

hey, i'm a nubie to the whole producing thing but i' really wanna get into it.
i downloaded the loops for bloodlock of sasha's website and am trying to make a re-edit of it as my first production and i'm using ACID (which is all I have, any suggestions on whatelse to use? I tried to install cubase but it wouldnt work without a keyboard or something)

one thing that was bothering me deals with the BPM in ACID. whenever i try to put on the beat filter loop as a track ACID tells me the loop has no BPM info and that I have to manually set it (or use their program to find it). i find a rough approximation with the metranome but it isn't exact.
all the other loops will automaticly go to whatever BPM i chose in ACID.

another thing i was wondering about was how to change the gain on the tracks over an interval. i know you can set the gain up or down on the track just by useing the control on the track name and info on the left of the screen but this won't let me change the gain over an interval of time. i want a curved lined for the gain bar on teh track itself.

well thanks for any help on how to do these things.

Right-click the channel and then click "Insert/Remove Envelope" and from there select "Volume". You should now see a blue line. You can insert points with what you can adjust the volume by right-clicking the line and selecting "Add Point".
