My Sony headphones cracked on both sides after less than a year and not that much useage and they replaced them free of charge for me so you should be ok.

Keep in mind that you'll have to pay for all labour charges, since labour is covered for only three months.

i have the v-900s and my leather ear cups are falling apart (mine are about 6 years old and still work great). i looked into replacing them and it was going to be about $35. i just decided to deal with it b/c it does not affect how well they work.

ah but this way they sell more! i learned about it, companies look into thibgs such as durability on purpose! they know roughly how long their products will last before they need replacing!

fly bastards not too good for us

With all the problems others are having with the 700s it makes me paranoid about mine.. I've had this pair for a year and so far all that's wrong is a couple month old crack on the earpiece swivel part. It hasn't gotten worse either since it first occurred. Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, they've treated me good so far...

Same here. Cracks on the plastic but doesn't affect the cans at all. and craks on the leather but once again doesn't affect the sound or feel at all. Don't be picky no one will notice it except for you and if it still fits well and sounds just as good then don't worry. Your getting what you paid for. Nothing last forever as they say. - Tempest

Seriously sony products have such bad build quality and their spare parts are stupidly high.

For instance - a £220 minidisc player includes:

The Player
An in-line remote
A charger

when my in-line remote stopped working during the warrenty period - sony would not take it back as they said it was my fault , and they told me a replacement remote was £200! .

about a year later i lost the charger and tried to get a new one from my local sony dealer - a replacement sony charger is like £150! - so i got a universal one for about £6 which works with everything.

I also had sony headphones which broke, i'm glad I got them from a big national chain which have staff who couldnt care less if you broke the things your taking back on purpose - i got a refund and bought some Sennheiser HD-25's instead.
