Loosing Interest in trance??

I figured that I'd post this here cause god knows what i'd get in the chillout room :P

Over the last few months i've steadly been loosing interest in trance and electronic music in general. and i have no idea why. i used to listen to a set or two a day. now im lucky if its 2 or 3 a month.

i used to frequent these forums all the time. now its down to almost nill. holy pooptacular batman.

im just wondering if anybody else has experienced something like this. its not that i hate trance or anything, i still love it tons. its just that i've kinda opened myself up to a lot of other stuff i guess and that i've needed a change somewhat...

anywhoo, thoughts opinions whatever... <3

i've been losing interest in trance for a while as well...i've discovered other electronic genres to make up for it. Mainly DnB (i love percussions, sounds awseme and big basslines make it even better), prog house (i really like the vibe from it, vocals are usually more meaningful and the feeling i get from it is very chill), and techno (i love hard bangin techno with good melody)

I still like trance and listen every now and again but i dunno what happened...

Trance was my first favorite form of electronica and still is years later, and I think a big reason for that is because I was always open to other genres, so don't worry about it, there's nothing wrong with that, it's good!

If trance is what you love it'll always be the one you come back to... I think you just had overkill on it and need a break.

It's a psychological thing, as most things are. You can only take so much of one kind of music. I, too, have been losing interest in trance (or, rather, "uplifting trance") because, I think, the novelty of the uplifting emotions has begun to worn off and/or especially that the structure of the music has become too repetitive for me (rather, I have begun to notice the repetitiveness).

However, repetitiveness is present in any kind of genre, with no exceptions. There is no avoiding it. If you produce music under a certain name, it is by nature restricted by the boundaries of that genre.

The fact that you are moving to other kinds of music is o.k.; as for myself I have been listening to more psychedelic trance for a while now, as well as chillout and "experimental" albums, etc.

Change is inevitable; there are no absolutes ... musical preference is no exception.

That is a very good point; it is important not to fight yourself. If you force yourself to like trance, it will just be an artificial love, constructed, fake. Just relax and go with the flow ... who knows where you'll end up! That's part of the wonder of life.

it's all about moderation, with any type of music!

it's too easy to listen to one style and listen to too much of it without experiencing any other sounds

the best thing to do is explore other geners of electronic music. Particularly techno/house/breaks... or anything else...

I never get tired of trance, becuase I listen to jazz, classical, house, acid, psy, low-fi. Take the time to discover all the genre's out there and you'll not only respect other genre's you'll never get tired of trance.

I agree.

too much trance gets alittle annoying if that's all you listen to. get into some other genres for awhile, and see what happens.
