Appeals court blocks Oct. 7 recall election

DAVID KRAVETS, AP Legal Affairs Writer Monday, September 15, 2003

(09-15) 10:19 PDT SAN FRANCISCO (AP) --

A federal appeals court postponed California's Oct. 7 gubernatorial recall election, ruling the historic vote cannot proceed as scheduled because some votes would be cast using outmoded punch-card ballot machines.

In what was the last of about a dozen legal challenges trying to delay or thwart the recall to unseat Gov. Gray Davis, a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Monday it is unacceptable that six counties would be using outdated punch-card ballots, the type that sparked the "hanging chads" litigation in Florida during the 2000 presidential election. link

i see this as a good and bad thing. good, more votes. bad, more of this republician circus

Hell, we could have "The Big One" next week and all of our prayers will be answered. It would be funny to watch Hollywood sink into the Pacific Ocean.

Luck Happens...

oh...and looking outside in...I don't know how it could be a "good" thing...since it will only draw it out...cost more money now...what will they do with the thousands of absentee votes being sent out...sent in, and the punch ballots already printed.

The whole thing is a crazy mess already...well done!!! and Good Luck!

i think it would of been a good thing if davis actually did something wrong, voters had their chance last november. yeah it is going to cost more money. imo if arnold wins, he should reimbursed california for this whole mess, that his party started and mostly funded. as for the absentee ballots, if the election moves to march (democrat primary) they will rip them and will have to resend them out, if it moves to later on in nov/dec i believe they will keep em.

yes the florida circus has come to town, maybe itll move to your state next!
