Try Starlancer if you can find it. Made by the same company a few years ago. That's a good one. Came out for PC and DreamCast.
Freespace 1 & 2, Independence War, but not sure how good these are. Star Wars: Starfighter is alright....on the PlayStation 2. I found it horrible on the PC. Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter for PlayStation 2 is also good. And the Colony Wars series on the original PlayStation were good, although a bit on the ridiculous side of difficulty.
yeah but those games are just shooters, in freelancer you could buy stuff for yourself buy killing pirates and taking stuff from their ship or doing missions for good guys
and stuff like that
oh and you could use radio to talk to different types of people, like religious fanatics, pirates, civilians, cops and other people
