10-24-03 Tiesto Live @ Rich's In HOuston!!!

MY O MY WHAT A NIGHT!

It all started with a meetup of fellow TA's Digital Breach, Mavo, Daydreamer, Emerald, Prestige, Number Juan, and myself of course, at BW3's, a little wings place here in Houston. So as we talked and got to know each other the time to leave was upon and we headed to the club. We got there everything went smooth and no problems at all. When we first entered the club the dance floor was spacious and one could manuever through the club with relative ease. We positioned our selves in the front row and listened to the musical stylings of a local dj here Sean Carnahan. Hate to be rude, but this guy really blew, and the only reason I am so harsh because the guy is highly regared around Houston here, but neways we sat and talked for an hour and a half. We had all our memrobilla ready as well. We had Another Day At The Office, Obsession vinyl, In My Memory on vinyl, Nyana sampler, and the cd Summerbreeze. Well after listening to Sean Crapahan out of no where we see Tiesto walk along side and approach the booth. The crowd goes nuts, ands remember that space on the dancefloor I was talking about, totally gone now the place was packed and very loud. People were goin mad basically. Tiesto waves and samples the equip for sec lets the last rec play out and then he throws down this unbeliveable intro track unfortunately I dont know what it is. Now were pumped and ready to go and the crowd is ready and then Tiesto throws down Nathan Fake - Outhouse and were jamming right? Wrong the biggest party foul of the 21st century is committed when girls start climbing the bars and one of the jackasses BUMPS THE FUCKIN TABLE AND THE RECORD SKIPPED!!!! ON OUTHOUSE !!! AND THEN SHE STILL KEEPS DOIN IT LIKE ITS NOTHING !!!! DUDE IVE NEVER HIT A WOMAN IN MY LIFE BUT THAT NIGHT I WAS ABOUT TO GET MEDIEVIL ON THAT DUMBASS GIRL. Although being in the great venue we were they quickly rectified the situation and replaced the normal club security with cops. So then were jamming Tiesto's getting pumped and were jumping he drops Three Drives - Carerra 2 and were like yea yea but being TA's weve heard it a million times, but still we were excited. Im wavin my Nyana vinyl like crazy Tiesto makes eye contact and Im like "Youre great!" hes looking back like "Yea, I know". Tiesto then drops Unkle - In A State (Sasha 2003 Mix), and we damn near melted, and before this I thought the track sucked, not nemore. Next he threw down Faithfulness, just a note, do not judge this song unless youve heard it live! The ear piercing laser riffs are incredible! Next we had a sign that said Faithfulness on it and he looked and said yea!! Then we took out of the traffic sign and he was looked at us like "Damn you guys kow ure shit, Hell yea Ill spin it for ya!" He gets Traffic waves it to us and begins to bring it in and Dude this was the highlight of the night!! TRAFFIC, LIVE!!! Slowly its coming we hear it, the beat, then that inital baseline, then a pause and boom it hits. Now were jamming and jumping in the air, next that reverse beat bass hits and Im goin nuts and so is the crowd. I look back and the entire club is jumpin up and down! Look this is a lot typing so Im gonna make a long story short. It was great night the highlight was Traffic and Emerald got him to play Mark Norman - Stream. Also the entire club sang Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes it was awesome. We also met Ibiza Dreams up there and it was just a great night all in all. Also props to the venue, Rich's those people know how to run a club lighting was superb, equipment, sound, design, and security, and friendly staff, great job Rich's again! Neways thats the short version of a very long night that will live forever in the hearts of these lucky TA's!

Tiesto Set: (This is of what I know and remember)

1. ID
2. Nathan Fake - Outhouse
3. Three Drives - Carerra 2
4. Unkle - In A State (Sasha 2003 Mix)
5. Adam Freeland Vs. White Stripes - Seven Nation Army (TRACK OF THE NIGHT)
6. Dont really remember
7. Skin - Faithfulness
8. Tiesto - Traffic

Dont really remember much after that

He also played

Conjure One - Tears From The Moon (Tiesto Mix)
Mark Norman - Stream
Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes
Evanescence - Hello (G & D Mix)
and last track of the night......
Andy Hunter - GO! (Antillas Mix)

WOOT WOOT WOOT, and just a side note, thats the only gay club Ive ever been to in my life, and Ive only been to one, where there were more str8 women and guys there than gay people, I saw two all night, so I guess I was worried about nothing! Thanx also from everyone for that advice as well. laters man

lol @ the girl climbing and messin the deck

First off, first track was by Agoria. There are a buttload of remixes and diff names, so do a search on "agoria - marche" As far as the remix he spun its most likely like:

01-agoria-la_onzieme_marche__phil_kieran_remix

Here's my review, short and sweet:

First off, the sound system wasn't good. Quite a bit of distortion, not enough bass. I've definitely heard worse though.

Second, hot. With 30 bucks a person, you'd think they could afford to keep the AC on for one night, let alone for a "promotion" for spundae as well as the club.

Third. I was not impressed at ALL with carnahans set. Quite frankly, I couldnt wait till that guy stopped spinning. Was sick of it. Ofcourse, once tiesto came up, it all changed. Bad DJ off - Good DJ on. Once agoria was thrown down, from there on I knew it was gonna rip up.

Fourth, I guess I definitely saw more gay guys than you van. I dunno. I got nothing really against gay guys, but i think we can all agree seeing guys go at it and shit isnt exactly something you wanna see. Every club will have its share, but this one, as expected, had a bit more. Forunately we had our own set of girls with us, and there were others, so it was ok.

I guess last, would be the bathroom lines. No biggie. The worst part imo was just the sound system and the lack of AC. Other than that, Tiesto was solid.

If you're wondering who I was, well, I was one of the guys with the blonde girl on his shoulders near the right side of the floor (facing tiesto). I'm sure we passed each other a couple times.....

Smoking ..umm..something TI-ES-TO

Alright here we go...

Vanfecto, great review man, and seriously you were inspiring myself and alot of the other clubbers there with your awesome energy bro, it was contagious. Let me start off by saying that the tracklist was awesome and I had a GREAT time listening to the music and dancing and seeing Tiesto perform. Apart from music and Tiesto, the other factors that combine to make a night SUCKED. I am talking about the crowd, the vibe, and the stupid shit people were doing. First off, a group of 5 or 6 stupid bitches (sorry, but they pissed MANY people off) were climbing on the railings to get eye to eye with Tiesto, blocking the view for EVERYONE behind them and as the icing on the cake, one bitch picks up the needle spinning Nathan Fake - Outhouse, record skips, everyone's like "WTF!" I've seen Tiesto many times before, and it was easy to tell he lost his vibe after all that shit. People kept climbing on the railings throughout the night, security guards told them to get off, they kept climbing back up, etc. Tiesto was losing his vibe, but his DJing skill was intact and tracklist was intact. He was not as happy and as energetic as in other sets. The second and final gripe I have was about the crowd in general...
DJs feed off the crowd, they feed off the response of the crowd... Tiesto kept dropping amazing tracks and the only part of the dance floor that was really feeling the awesome energy was the top left corner, near the DJ booth, the TAs were there representing...

Did you guys notice when everyone in our corner was chanting "TI-ES-TO, TI-ES-TO", he looked over at us and started dancing, he was loving it.

Motorcycle - As the Rush Comes starts playing, we all agree to sing along... hands in the air... etc... I look around me and behind me... the rest of the crowd were just looking up dumbfounded as if they did not have a fuckin clue to what was going on... as if they didn't know what to do in a night club... that brought the whole club energy down quite a bit.

There's nothing like seeing a club explode, the entire crowd has their hands in the air, singing along, or just feeling the vibe. The crowd at this club was lacking alot of emotion.

Enough bullshit... the fuckin tracklist ROCKED and I had an awesome time... great meeting VanFecto (keep that energy up bro!), Daydreamer, Digital Breach (drunk bastard! haha), and Mavo, and I rolled up there with The_One and Rememberence_, had a badass time with everyone, tranceaddicts UNITE!

I was apparently the only obsessed dumbass writing down the tracklist, but I enjoy doing it... so here goes the tracklist in order!!!

1. Agoria - La Onzieme Marche (Phil Kieran Remix)
2. Nathan Fake - Outhouse (awesome early set song)
3. Three Drives - Carrera 2
4. BT - Force of Gravity ( ?remix? )
5. Firewall - Sincere
6. UNKLE - In a State (Sasha Remix)
7. The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army (Adam Freeland Remix)
8. ?
9. Skin - Faithfulness (Tiesto Vocal Mix)
10 DJ Tiesto - Traffic
11 ?
12 En Motion - Getting Away With It (Thrillseekers Instrumental)
13 Conjure One - Tears from the Moon (Dj Tiesto Remix)
14 Dj Tiesto - Flight 643
15 ?
16 ?
17. Mark Norman - Stream
18. Motorcycle - As the Rush Comes (Sweeping Strings)!!!!
19. Evanescence - Hello (Trifactor vs G&D Remix)!!!!

20. ?
21. Marco V - Loops and Things Relooped (awesome track)
22. Andy Hunter - Go (Antillas Remix)

The list is accurate EXCEPT for number 12, although it WAS a thrillseekers production for sure, but I forgot the exact melody.
The absolute BEST MOMENT of the night for me was the mix between Motorcycle - As the Rush Comes into Evanescence - Hello!!!!!!

FUCKIN AWESOME, FUCKIN AWESOME, F U C K I N A W E S O M E ! ! ! ! !

What a crazy ass night! As soon as his set was over, Tiesto got out his special marker came straight to us (vanfecto, emerald, and myself.) No matter what event, you'll be sure to catch us at the front! When Tiesto handed back my Nyana, some stupid fuck stole it right out of my hands and took off, I had to go hunt his ass down in the club. but anyways...
Indeed, it was an excellent night for us all, and as for the club… an exceptional venue for a high-status performer such as Tiesto and hopefully Armin. A first-class dance floor and DJ booth accompanied by an unmatched light/laser and sound setup configuration. In my opinion, Rich’s is a fortifier to the Houston club scene, and because of that I believe that we will begin to see more than Tiesto and Oakey in the future.

OMFG. Last night was the best night I've had in so long!! I strolled into the club around 11PM because I wanted to skip past most of the intro DJ's. The first DJ I heard was playing some good choons, I was listening to Gamemaster while standing in line to get in. But that other DJ Sean Carahan (spelling?) really sucked in my opinion, to be honest I just wanted him to get out of the booth and bring on the Tiesto! Sean had the trend of playing a really good song getting me all excited then changed it to something lame! But omfg when Tiesto walked up to the booth the entire club went INSANE! The once spacious dance floor was packed full of people, elbows were all in my face. I can't rememeber all the tracks and what order they came in but particular favorites of mine was when he dropped Traffic, ATRC, and Hello. And when the entire club was singing ATRC it was very touching Tiesto tore that club apart it was so great I am so happy I drove from Austin just to see him. I wanted to get his autograph on my ticket stub but he didn't come over to the people on the right side of the booth, only the left

The club itself was all right, I didn't even know it was a gay club till I read the posts above. I guess I was in my own world. I can't believe a fucking bottle of water was $4, and you know they kept the A/C off just do poor suckers like me would have to buy 6 bottles of it just to not pass out > I thought the sound was good and the lighting rack was really near when it moved at differant angles n stuff, @ first I thought it was about to fall onto the crowd so i moved away from under it lol

And I just want to express how angry I was at the girls who climbed onto the booth rails and fucking leaned OVER the tables on the verge of falling onto them. I watched in horror as Tiesto very nicely gave the "no no, step back" hand gesture followed by a smile. But thank you mister Sean Carahan for bumping into Tiesto's back resulting in making Tiesto skip the track

so much fun.

I'm not sure what/how many other clubs you've been to, but the sound setup was terrible man. The bass was light, the treble was distorted. The lighting wasnt bad, but there werent any lasers. There was zero AC, The dance floor was also a little too compact, the bar tending was slow, bathroom lines were extensive. The vibe was there, but only in groups. If you left and walked around, you'd see it drop immediately. The security was also crap as well. That girl coulda literally just knocked over the decks if she wanted to.

Tiesto did his job. His set was solid, his enthusiasm was there. Every single negative from last night was because of the club. I personally am hesitant to go back, and the only reason I was there last night was simply because Tiesto isn't exactly a "regular" to houston.

Good party nonetheless. I can't help but say it coulda been even better if some of the factors i mentioned were resolved.

Unfortunately, all this Sporttrance said was true... what seemed to have happened was that Rich's wasn't exactly "prepared" for a DJ like Tiesto to come spin at their club. It's ridiculuous how CLOSE any of those girls were to knocking over one of the turntables, that should never be possible, because of security or because of barriers at the dj booth. As sad as it may be, DJs tend to frequent the clubs they have the best times in the most... and if an environment such as the one last night continues, Rich's won't be getting many visits by the greats of electronica.

Yeah thinking about it again I agree with those who said the sound system was hardly prepared for a DJ like Tiesto. And yeah again the girls on the railing was ridiculous. I mean sure it was so cool to see Tiesto up close but in my opinion I found it very disrespectful to Tiesto himself by distracting him from his work while he has to worry about some dumb bitch falling onto both tables...I found it amusing how this girl had this dumb banner she showed to Tiesto saying "DJ TIESTO PLEASE PLAY DELERIUM - SILENCE. WE LOVE YOU!!"

Im so happy he denied the request, what I would do if I had to hear that song again for the 9,392,001'th time.

No thas nothing I shit u guys not when I say this, this guy next to me who attempted to steal our recs at first, he then leans over and says "Man this is great, Bad Boy Bill is awesome! " Also to be perfectly honest I did think the bass was a little light, like when stream was on I was like man can we get more bass?
