Help with Midi files

Dumb question but. how exactly do i use midi files in fruity loops. I can open them in FL but i can't hear anything.
Do i need a midi controller or sumtn?

you have to put the midi on a synth or a sample or something to get sound too it

what i want to do is take the drums out of a midi file so i can use them sum how.

ok...

once you have the midi file in the sequencer...create a new channel

then you go into the piano roll of the midi file and copy it

then paste it into the new channel and whoala

just so you know, there is no sound in the midi file.
so there is no meaning in taking a kick or something like that in a midi file... caus you wount get the kick sound from the track if you thought that.

you can only get the notes from a midi
