Do you know Cubase really good?

I'm trying to so some tricks in cubase. I want to run sound (sound from another computer actually) into my soundcard line input and EQ "on the fly" in cubase. Is there any way to do this?
I'm using the ASIO DirectX full duplex drivers but when I apply effects to the input channel they are not audible, the music just streams right through my card

I believe that the real question though is how do I stop the line in sound from running directly to my output, instead of routing it first through Cubase...

So has anyone done this before?

( have a Soundblaster Extigy if that's important)

Yes, of course you can use DX instruments in Cubase. Just make sure their dll files are in the VST plugin directory. Should be something like Program Files/Steinberg/VST plugins.

AS for running from one computer to another, yes thats possible, but I don't know about eq'ing on the fly. You might need an eq between each computer. Why don't you control the eq on the computer that teh sound is initiating from.

I know that there are some soundcards that have internal mixing routings, but I don't know whether the extigy has got them. Otherwise you can route the line input to the internal mixer, then let cubase eq the sounds and then route the signal back to the outputs.

However I don't think your problem is related to Cubase, because it has nothing to do with it. The main problem lies within your hardware capabilities.

I suggest you find out about the routing capabilities of the Extigy.

good luck

ok so I'm using a different method now. I have a single computer and I'm running traktor studio. The audio from traktor runs through sound card nr.1 . Sound Card's nr.1 input is then directed to Cubase (and cubase is able to read the sound and the Db meters rock up and down and everything). However, the audio doesn't run through Cubase, it's just silent...

Do I have to do anything special if I want to play the audio input in Cubase? I just want to route the audio from the input to the output using Cubase.

Snapshot from my mixer in Cubase:
