just want to ask something..i'm in school most of the time for a project and thus i use the school comp more than my home PC.i noticed that the school comp tends to play the MP3s i have at roughly 40% faster. As a result, the music comes out as super-fast and the singers all sound a little like mickey mouse!
can any1 help me with some suggestions?
(btw the comp is a P4 2.66GHz,Dell Precision 340,512mb RAM)

ummmmm.....yeah wtf?
only thing i can think of like this was on really old computer games
when you try to run them on newer systems, they run hyper speed cause they were programmed to just run at max speed cause thats all there was
but then when comps got faster, so did those games :-P
but um, what program are you using to play the music?
and are you streaming, playing off a cd, or playing off the hard drive?
idk if it'd make a difference, but yeah
can't hurt
regardless of the players i use, the result is still the same.i'm using winamp, windows media player.i play the music thru streaming, off the cd, and mp3 files but they all have the same problem.
:x

128, 160, or 192 at 44100hz should not matter. One way to dummy check is to simply D/L the music on the hard drive, play it, and see if the problem is with the CD drive or with your music in the computer you are using.

Obviously your computer is too fast this is common problem with todays PCs. Since I'm a nice guy, I'd be willing to swap computers, you can have my AMD 500 duron system and I'll take ur P4 2.66GHz. No need to thank me, I listen primarily to Barry White, who has a low deep voice so the high speed/frequence should balance out nice.
