Ok, so I have spent several months working with FL Studio 4 and have gotten pretty familiar with it. However, I have never gotten many plugins, because I always figured why spend time learning them when I was going to switch over to Reason soon.
So now I have reason. I realize that it is much more powerful, however, it just seems to take forever to lay out ideas in chorus'. In FL Studio 4 I could lay down a chorus within 30 mins where I could decide if I really wanted to pursue the track or ditch it. But in Reason, it takes forever to really get a good chorus down and I feel to much invested when I decide it's not worth pursuing....
I thought about using FL Studio to be an idea pad, but it seems difficult to transfer an idea from FL over into Reason.

everyone's a know-it-all but nobody's helpful, what is up with that??
what specifically are you trying to do in reason? i would use the matrix to think out your note structure. this is a mini-sequencer that attaches to the synth and it automatically loops so you can bust out a melody fairly quickly. then to put it in your song just automate the matrix into reason's main sequencer, or, if you want, recompose the notes into the sequencer keyboard. but at least that way you are not trying to compose the melody directly into the song which is what it sounds like you are trying to do. i have been working with reason for a few months now and have found it to be very powerful. download songs from reasonstation.net to see how this is done, i could also show you an rns file if you want.
