Bush signs parts of Patriot Act II into law

http://www.sacurrent.com/site/news....id=482778&rfi=6

"On December 13, when U.S. forces captured Saddam Hussein, President George W. Bush not only celebrated with his national security team, but also pulled out his pen and signed into law a bill that grants the FBI sweeping new powers. A White House spokesperson explained the curious timing of the signing - on a Saturday - as "the President signs bills seven days a week." But the last time Bush signed a bill into law on a Saturday happened more than a year ago - on a spending bill that the President needed to sign, to prevent shuttng down the federal government the following Monday."

What a very nice Conservative, Republican person , we should let them continue to apply their politics forever.

Does anybody else love the hypocrisy of the times that we live in? Democrats speaking out against big government and republicans pushing for big government? I love it ...

Anyway, so the feds can now impound records from car dealerships, jewelers, post offices, casinos, insurance agents, etc., on top of currentely banks. How does this personally affect me any more than before? Did anybody know that they couldn't previously subpeaona these records? As long as the other, more controversial portions of pat 2, such as actual infringements of civil liberties, aren't passed I'll take a pragmatic approach to this. If they can already seize bank records under extreme circumstances, why should I care if they can seize car dealership records?
