That was my thread. In short, Atmostphere is a c*nt to automate. They say all this stuff about what atmosphere can do but half of it is pushing the truth. It even says that you can run it as a standalone. Has anybody found the atmosphere.exe file yet? Didn't think so.
In answer to your question, you can only automate atmosphere using external controllers. The dials in Atmosphere each have their own CC number and unlike other synths, you cannot change these numbers.
If you want to automate the pitch wheel, you will have to record the midi cc data from your controller. On the midi channel that has the notes going to atmosphere, or on another midi channel that is hooked up to the same atmosphere, select the midi in a the midi controller and hit record. Start to turn the mod wheel up and down and it should record the changes. These will look different to the automation you are used to but its how it works.
If you can not record the automation, then go into file --> options? or something. Somewhere under the file drop bar and in there is the midi filtering options. Make sure that controller messages are not being filtered out.
