Listening to it now, here are my thoughts.....

Starts off promising but straight away it seems your main synth is covering the bass synth so it's a tad muddy at this point. When the other instruments come in they just seem to overwhelm the mix. A shame cos you can hear the kick and bass have a lot of power, just that compared with the other instruments they are a bit too quiet and swamped.

If i may, may I suggest you go back to the bassdrum and bass, get them stonking then trickle in the other voices one by one so the volumes are right.

For example, that top set of notes should be a lot more in the background than they are, everything is too busy competing with each other to really draw your ears along one path - it's like "I'm listening to this" then, "no wait, I'm listening to this now".

Hope these pointers help.

I do like your string pad in the background, some of the sounds you use are nice, just check your EQ.

This is a great improvement on the last version Nick. Things seem more in line and the tune is much easier to follow. Things have more of a place in the mix.

Nit pick time, it sounds like you're trying to compensate for the mix by using a mastering plug-in i.e. trying to get that large club sound by almost fixing it at the end. It sounds that way cos the whole mix sounds overcompressed but behind that you can still hear that it needs fixing at the EQ/voice selection stage. I'm talking specifically about the bassdrum/bass line - I'm guessing they don't sound loud enough before you use the mastering plugin. Just ramp them way way up til they don't clip, use individual compression on each with a bit of EQ and build your track around them, it'll save a load of time messing around with the mastering plug. This is something I've been staring at for the past year or so, and only now am I starting to notice any real improvements in my own mixes.

I am impressed with the improvements though, it's gone up a load since the last mix.

I still think that top duh-duh-duh-duh is too loud in comparison with the chunky synth that I feel should be carrying the tune.

Anyway, keep it going man, keep it going!

Hey there Nic,

Nice track you have there.

Listening as I write.
First thing I thought would sound good is if you put more resonance on the swooosh effect you do with the kick drum at 00:10 so that it has more effect (That is probably a taste thing though).

The percussion could do with filling out as it's pretty basic at the moment. Although what you have so far works quite nicely. The kick drum is a little too Italian hardstyle sounding for my tastes but again that's a personal opinion thing.

The thing that does strike me is that everything in the track is very spot on 'even' positions in the bars if that makes sense. It's got a very linear feel to it. Which actually works quite well for the track but leaves it feeling a little clinical. The track needs a little bit of funk in my opinion.

Your melodies complement eachother well and it's actually pleasant to listen to. It has a lot of positive energy comming out of it too which is a good thing.

The one thing I don't get from it is that expolsion of emotion.

But from a technical point of view your sound is quite good. I also agree with BassAngel on his points.

Cheers
Nem

PS
Usually a good way to get reviews here is to review other peoples tracks. Not sure if you have or not.

Hey guys, thx again for all the help and comments, its one of the biggest ways i could improve my music, sometimes i listen to the song so many times that i kinda get used to it, and dont realise certain things untill somebody else points them out...

BassAngel: Yeah ur right about the whole EQ thing, im still trying to figure that out :P, i always seem to have a Problem with Clipping, and the only way i can seem to stop it is if i use one of those Mastering plugs on the whole track, cuz if i put the vol down to stop the clipping the track sounds 2 low, i may just need to mess with the EQ's on the individual tracks more, i'll have to keep messing around with that.

Nemesis44: Im glad you like that track, i know what u mean when u say the track is alittle clinical and it needs a bit of funk, i always seem to have that problem with that in my songs, but im working on it!, hehe...

Well, guys ima keep at it, hopefully something good will come out of this, thx again. i'll cya all around!
