Dunno Need help for a pair of FL techniques

Please, I need help to:
-use the x-y controller, I've read the tutorial a lot of times but I can't do anything. If someone can explain me the steps to, 4 example, control the cutoff and the pitch of a TS404;
-to make a sort of distorted bass used a lot on trance tracks... hard to explain, an example is the one of the loop "2 hard 2 strong 2 fast" of this site (the synth bassline u heard in the loop).
I've tried with the 3xOsc-Ravelead with the Flanger and the Blood overdrive but I can't make the same effect... u can heard the similar bassline I've made in my song Zwonimir - Flanged signal.

Thanks!!
