Fraggle, the head unit in the pic u posted is an interesting machine, the whole area u see is a completely flat black screen, which shows details about tracks, radio, time etc.But at the push of a button the whole thing mechanicaly rotates to reveal a whole new side of silver metal and neon blue buttons. But thats all that head unit has going for it.In my car i have the following layout:
Head unit:Alpine head unit (Cant remember model name) With 12 disc autochanger
Eq:Pioneer deq-9200 Digital signal processor (Dsp)
Amps:2 pioneer prs-x340 (720 watts each!)
Subs:2 vibe 12 inch subs in sealed enclousures with thier own amplifiers and crossover networks.2 pioneer ts-w1200f 3ocm sized with bass bullets.
mids:4 kenwood dual mag speakers built into my dashboard.4 ts-a2065 mids by pioneer built into each door.
Tweeters:4 pioneer ts-t23,one in each corner of interiour.
Rear shelf:2 Pioneer ts-a6987 6x9 speakers @ 260 watts each.
And im now looking at getting an alpine dvd/satnav/ps2 package.
Please note that my install took me around 3 years to construct and many hours of construction by me in my garage, but when ya crank it up,u and everybody within 6 miles knows its worth it ;-)
So id say get yourself the best alpine head unit u can afford, and just work yer way up!
