I've been out of the loop on hip-hop for quite some time now. First time I heard this song, underground hip-hop jumped in my mind. I love abstract hip-hop cause it reminds me of poetry I used to write. Anyways, I've heard hip-hop in EDM before, but it is usually in house or breakbeat stuff (ie, UNKLE, groove armada, dub pistols, etc). Lately I've really been loving the Marco V remix of this tune, it is fast becoming one of my favorite songs. I was suprised how well that the hip-hop style lyrics worked and flowed with a hard techy tune like this, without coming off as cheesy. Does anybody know the emcee on this track?
Just wanted you to share your thoughts on this subject, since I'm really digging this tune.
ps: anyone who says "hip-hop/rap sucks" or the like can have a nice warm cup of STFU. Intelligent responses please.
"Over on the second disc of the sampler 'Pride's Paranoia' offers something slightly different, with it's Underground Resistance style bassline and mc vocal courtesy of Slug from mid west hip hop outfit Atmosphere. Hints of Eminem are eveident but the track itself goes toe to toe with Slug's vocals, with some low techy grooves slipping at the back end of the track. Imagine a track akin to one of Green Velvet's many hits and you will have a good idea of what to expect."
I love the versatility of trance. You can make a trance remix of a rock song, a hip-hop track, anything. Few genres can do that successfully.
There have been a number of wicked remixes of rock tracks (mainly Depeche Mode) and a few successful hip-hop remixes as well and I think it's good that people are experimenting with the genres and bringing them together on a certain level.
Loving the Marco V remix of this tune as well and lately the fad seams to be remixing rock tunez and I for one am not complaining.

While I agree that the track certainly isn't trance, slapping the "progressive" label on Futureshock's music is just as bad and unfair, since it blatantly ignores the way their music does not conform to the majority of progressive's common traits. That a progressive DJ plays FS' tracks does not mean they make progressive (if that was true you could easily call it trance as well, since both Marco V and Ferry have played FS tunes)
Eric Prydz remix of this toon is funky tasty beats!

Slug has done a lot of cool stuff. I suggest you look into some of it. Haven't heard this song, but it sounds interesting. I'll check it out.

I'm referring to the Prydz and Marco V mixes that I've heard, I haven't heard the original of this tune just yet I'm going by what I've heard from the mixes.
