we have a old turntable here that use to read the old vinyl. I was wondering if that table was able to read my new vinyl that I'm buying without dommaging them.
I'm going to buy my set soon but I just wanted to know if I could make play the new vinyl I order that arrive before my set.
Is it the same thing forthe needle or it a complete different thing and I should not touch that at all.
thanks

well my dad ( I don't know for that ) is telling me that there was some groove in old vinyl. I don't know how to say it in english. They have some kind of bumps on the vinyls and the one I just order are all flat and nice and he's saying that it was not like that before.
Maybe he is wrong too.

I just found a box of old vinyl like op gun and E.T. lol and it the same thing. The bump he was saying that we don't have anymore seam to be the space betwen each track that are almost absent on new vinyl because they have only one track on each side :P
Thanks for the help that was a noobb question. :P

Perhaps he means REALLY old vinyl that is in mono, not stereo. For those to work you need a "backword compatable" cart.
If your concerned about damaging your new records by playing them on an old deck the only thing to be worried about is the stylus. Any record player will do but if it is a cheap stylus or is very worn or has been damaged because it has been knocked around in storage for decades.... you might think about getting a new stylus.
