I own a pair
now I know many will wonder wtf I'm saying but let me explain..
first of all I had in mind to buy the alesis M1 active but damn, they have three times as much bass as any other monitors and that bass drowns the mids and highs so they felt way to un-detalied
when it came to the tannoys, shure they sound detalied and good but they also sound very warm and that's when the warningsign jumps up for me...
when a monitor sounds warm it usually means they have boosted mids and that's not a good thing for studiomonitors wich are supposed to be flat, besides that...the mid's on the tannoys tend to drown the bass a bit making it more un-detailed
the studiophile BX8 and phonic monitors just sounded crap, absolute crap...they were horrible...couldn't listen more then a minut to them before feeling pain in my ears
