What the fuck? Sooo quiet, i would have thought it would have been a better turnout.
Zabiela was impressive i thought, really enjoyed it. Bit of showboating thrown in, some scratching, looping and use of FX. Also i liked the way he stayed around after his set. Actually i saw him wandering aimlessly about on the dancefloor while xpress2 were on, he seemed more than happy to chat and stuff. Seemed a nice guy.
X Press2 were pretty good to listen to I thought, but it wasnt very dance friendly, when they were on the dancefloor was nearly empty. I just stood on the stairs for a bit. I think they got the set order wrong. I wouldn't have had Xpress2 play between Zabiela and Sander. I trotted over to see Mistress Barberra after a about 1/2 hour and all credit to her, she'd packed out the nitrogen room. I thought her mixing was great, every transistion seemed to add a lot of energy, I quite enjoyed it. She ended with a with a really cool remix of that track that goes "you spin me right round baby, right round like a record baby..." And Foy who took over was enjoying him self, scratching and some fancy eq tricks.
Then to see Sander, who was good. It takes a pretty good set to keep me dancing past 5. He played that tune, and i'm not sure whats it called, im sure you'll know, it goes "We are In Zenden" (something like that) and it was played at Wild in the Counrty by Sasha and Digweed (features in the essentia mix).
All in all, really glad i went, got to speak to zabiela briefly too, just asked him about his new album. Stand out tunes of the night was probably Underworld - Dark & Long (Danny Howels Remix is it? think it something like that) and im pretty sure it was sander who played it, and of course the tune MB ended with. Shame, All the night needed was a better turnout.
