Need to get new Cartridges for my TTX1's suggestions?

I am looking to get new cartridges for my Numark ttx1 turntables. When I bought them the guy suggested Shure M25C so I got them. However, they were cheap and I want reliable ones now. Basically what I want are very good cartridges that gives great sound and easy on the vinyl. I don't do much scratching but I would appreciate suggestions on cartridges that do scratching also. Basically I want to get very good cartridges that either scratch or not but I'm possibly looking for some that won't wear out my records. suggestions!!!

i'd say nightclub but since u wanna be able to scratch (it can be done with nightclubs but not really recommended) -> shure whitelabel will probably be the best choice

i'm looking at my DJ magazine now and Whitelabel is $109.99. Is that a good price for that cartridge? I assume Whitelabel will allow scratching? Also is the sound is great?

I've heard u gotta like the sound personally because its 'different'. Never touched 'em though.

I guess that's a good price, but i wouldn't know, because they're about twice that price in belgium

white labels are excellent all-round carts, and it takes a lot to get them out of the groove so they are good for scratching..

if you want to spend a bit less but still want a quality cart go for concorde pro or night club, although they arnt really scratch carts, you can still scratch with them if you put the weight up to about 5 gram.

if you have loads of money to spend go for stanton trackmaster 2sk.

109.99 is a decent prices for whitelables...but i've found them for much cheaper...just look around, maybe even try ebay...

also, m447s are almost as good as whitelabels, and they are cheaper also, but they are just a little bit harder on your records than more carts...m447s are also very very loud...just my opinion i guess

Today I went out and I bought the Shure Whitelable cartridges. I also picked up new slipmats and the Korg KP2 Kaoss pad Efftects processor. The guy also threw in 10 feet cords for the hookup. I got a great deal of only $500 for all this. Not too bad. However, I started to use the Whitelabel and the records are skipping like crazy now. I know I need to adjust some things. I was wondering if anyone here can give me some detailed steps for doing this. The directions that came with them are so confusing. Thanks again.

1. put the cart in the tonearm
2. unlock the tonearm lock thingy, leave the tonearm in place
3. balance the tonearm so that it 'hovers' horizontally
4. turn the small ring on the weight (not the weight itself) to 0
5. turn the weight to the appropriate amount of pressure (counterclockwise i suppose)

done & done

I did that and it still skips. I tried doing it a few times and the same thing. I also tried adjusting that anti-skid thing and still it skips. I'm about to take these cartridges back.

maybe your tonearm doesn't have the right height settings anymore, since ur using a new cart and all. I'd check that out too if i were you.

The arm should be horizontally with the platter when the needle is on the record, if you know what i mean.
