I set my one of my tonearms to 2.0 grams (it says minimum 2-5 grams) and I think the heights are set correctly... but when I play my vinyl it looks like a little bit of dust or something collects at the tip of the stylus- is this a little bit of vinyl that's getting scratched off or what? I'm worried that the vinyl will get real scratched or ruined or something... but maybe it's just dust collecting? they're kind of dusty. any opinions?

It's just dust. Try and clean your records with a cloth or something before playing.

wipe your vinyl with a swiffer sheet before playing and occassionally wipe the needle over with a needle brush.
